Pink Saturday

I have a few more pink sampler blocks done this week. They measure 6 1/2". I really like the bottom Right pinwheel block.

I am calling this my Lanterns. I did not get the blue one done yet. I hope soon. I had a bunch of 2" strips so I think my are smaller than some peoples.

Here is the full wall today. I also got a few little nine patches too. They are hard to stop making. I do not know what I will make with them but I think I have to make more nine patches. Next week will be the last Pink Saturday, so I hope to put all my pink back up on the wall, as it really looks good together.

I have added this post to Soscrappy RSC 2014 this week. Go see more pink from all the others.

OK I am showing off my smart puppy again. I have been working on a game called It's Your Choice. She is 3 1/2 months old, so this game takes lots of self control. She has a kibble on each front paw and more on the floor, plus a full food dish. When she is holding still and not taking food she is hand given a kibble. So you see she has to work for her supper. My husband helped take the photo as there is no way I could mange the game and the camera.

Hexie Sampler Block

I prepared this block yesterday so I had some hand stitching to do while watching the Olympics. I am watching the team skating. This little block will measure 6" when sewn in. It will be a sampler I will work on this year as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. The hexagons measure 1" on a side. They seem so big. I have done 3/4" mostly in the past.

I have added this post to Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching.

Gemma had a big sprint around the house and is now slowed down and sleeping under my chair. Our weather is very cold so we did not have a good walk yesterday and I am sure we will not get a good walk outside today either.

Scrap Saturday Tinkled Pink

I have started the month of February scraps with four 6" sampler blocks. Three of the blocks have come from the blocks that Soscrappy  has shared with us.

This block I am calling Cake Cross. It is Block #2 in the 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. I love this cute little cake print and I just had to fussy cut a few cakes for this block.

I have bought a few new books this month. I bought this one for using in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014 (RSC14). There are many great blocks I can use for my scraps.

I also got two pineapple log cabin blocks done. There measure 4 1/2" as they are very small and take loads of time to do. Some of the smallest bits of fabric can be used. I am not sure how many I will do, the big quilt calls for . They are from Bonnie Hunter's String Fling book. I did have a little pink in the two blocks.

I went back to the blue scraps and cut out some scraps for a Lantern block.

Here are the pink scraps cut out for the Lantern Blocks. They are 2" wide.

This is a start of the cutting for the background fabrics for the lantern blocks. I hope to get the pink block and blue block sewn for next week. You will have to wait for me to show you what I am calling a Lantern block. Yes, this is a new project for me.

Chairs Makeover

I have had these chairs for about 10 years. They were my Grandmother's and she gave them to me when she down sized. The seats were green and the fabric was tearing and tattered. I finally decided what to do. I found this Philip Jacob print in a heavy weight than quilting cotton. My dad cut new plywood and helped me redo the foam and fabric. I am very pleased how they turned out. Very bright and cheery. I have so much brown and tan in my house it is nice to add some colour.

It took me so long to redo these chairs because I could not decide what to do. I did think I would make hooked wool rug seats. But I kind of gave up hooking. Then I did think I could do some patchwork and make a quilted cover. I just never got started. They are not square and I had trouble with that. Then I saw this fabric. I did not buy it at first but them went back and got enough to do the job.
Thanks Dad for your help.

Cuteness overload, Gemma my new lab puppy.

Gemma

I have been busy with the new puppy, Gemma. I just got word that her CKC name will be Eromit's Dancing Diamonds. Here is a photo in her favorite place, the foot stool.

How can you not love that little sweet little face. My little Treasure.

I hope to get back to my quilting posts tomorrow.
