Sunday Hand Stitching

I have been back to my Dear Jane blocks. I got a little hand applique done this week and completed three Purple blocks.
Top left is B9 - Tinker Toy
Bottom left is E2 - Merry May
Right D3 - Jason's Jacks

I have four other blocks partly done and needing some hand stitching. I will soon have half the purple blocks done. It will look like a good start to a quilt.

I have added this post to Kathy's Slow Stitching Sunday. She was talking about what she watches or listens to well stitching. I have a few different tastes. I will watch Game of Throwns then Mad Men tonight and stitch. I sometimes watch CBC new channel or I listen to very bouncy and loud radio that is kind like dance pop or old hard Rock.   But I also love super quite and no TV or noise on.

I bought a little spring colour the other day. I had one last year and it lasted for months so thought it was a good deal. Now to just make sure it gets enough water. I do better with low water plants.

Purple Saturday

I got some more purple scraps sewn this week. I really really needed the purple coin strips done. I had almost every colour done but not purple.  I just missed doing the purple last year. These are 6 1/2" wide and 18 1/2" long.

I took my photos late tonight in the darker room and without my design wall. Sorry my photos are not better. I hope next week I can use my wall and show off all the purple at one time. We had company and I am trying to machine quilt the last few quilts to end my month. Not enough time in my life.

My 8" spool block and the left over pin wheel block.

These are to be my 6" sampler blocks. Opps something is not like the other. The Friendship star is 6" but the other block is 8" wrong. I will have to redo it. I guess this block will end up as an extra.

I have a few purple Dear Jane blocks done using my Kaffe Fasset Fabrics.
Top Left is A8 - Florence Nightingale
Top right  is C10 - Patriot's Lantern
Bottom Left is I2 - Kay's Courtyard
Bottom Right is C4 Tic Tac Toe

I have added Saturday's post to Soscrappy as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014.

My only photo of Gemma this week. She still can sleep on the foot stool. Maybe not for long. She is getting big.

Log Cabin Quilting

I got to do the machine quilting on this beauty. I just love this quilt. The logs are so thin and so many seams, it was a heavy top. My customer asked me to do some echo quilting on the little homes but then she wanted something more over all on the rest.

You can see some of the curved lines here.

Can you believe it, she is giving this quilt away. I hope they love it.

The all over shot, just as I am unpinning the quilt from the frame. It is so nice to get them done.

WIP Wednesday More Hexies

I have been working on my Hexagons. I did a ton of basting and some sewing over the Easter weekend. I have been thinking I like this layout. I am not sure if I have enough green fabric but so far I like this the best. I have no idea how big I will make this quilt.

I thought I would show off this great fabric. I found the crazy vase fabric on clearance. I bought some not know how I would use it. It is perfect to fussy cut. I used a piece of fabric 20" by 28" to get the 6 repeats I needed.

I few more from the same fabric. I am getting more pink around the flowers.

Here is the same print in a different colour. I love the crazy vase flower on the bottom.

I have added this post to Freshly Pieced WIP, and The Needle and Thread Network.

Design Wall Monday April 21st

I have gotten 8 more blocks this past week for the KF Block Exchange. Really they are from one quilter. We are in two exchanges together so we were trading 5 but she did not like some of them so made me some extras. If you want to see what I sent her check out the Red blocks. I love them all. I have not blended the blocks together yet. I want to make some more and I still have 4 more to come. The 3 rows on the left are blocks I have made and the 4 rows on the right are what I have received so far.

If you want to know more about the log cabin block, You can check out the Post here. I give instructions on how to make the 11" log cabin block.

I have added this post to Judy's Design Wall Monday.

Gemma hanging out. We are getting a bit of warm weather and have had lots of time outside today. We got to play with some jumps and the tunnel. We also did some retrieving the ball.
Happy Easter Monday

Easter Weekend Scraps

Purple is the colour this month in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014. Perfect for Easter. I finally got started on the purple scraps. On Good Friday, I was able to cut and prepare some scraps for the 6" sampler blocks. Then I was able to sew them into blocks on Saturday morning before we left for family fun. I ran out of time to post photos till today.

So I have been working with my Kaffe Fasset fabrics for the block exchanges, I have been making some scraps. So I was able to make this block.

Then I also did a Uncle Homer block for my Dear Jane. Yes I am going to try and work on the Dear Jane again. At the rate I am going I will need to live to be 100 to finish. Maybe I can get going a little faster again.

Some hand dyed purple scraps.

I did some string sewing with the purple hand dyed fabrics.

With my Husband's help I have been repainting and putting a rubber covering on my Agility Teeter Totter. We did the Blue center area on Friday and let it set.

Then today we came back and did the yellow contact area. This is the part the dog is to step in to be safe. We need to let the rubber set for a week before we can play on it.

Gemma is learning to play in the water. This is part of the flooded pasture and very cold still.

Happy Easter

WIP Wednesday Hexies

I have been working hard on my Kaffe Fassett Hexagon project. If I have my hexagons all pre-basted, I can sometimes get 3 done in one night. I find the cutting and basting for one can takes just as long as the sewing one flower.

My next step was to pick out a background fabric. I had a meter of this yellow but was not sure.

Then I found this one, Bubble Gum pink Kona cotton. Love it.

I love the fussy cutting I did on this flower. My hexagons are 1" on the side.

Here are a few flowers I have done the pink around.

I have added this post to Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday and Needle and Thread Network

My crazy little lab. She got to go in the water and now she keeps looking out the window at the lake. I think she will be a swimmer.

OK funny thing I will admit to. You may know I have trouble spelling but the spell check helps. Well my husband found Hamburger soup in the freezer marked Hambugger soup. I keep laughing about it. Bugger soup.

Design Wall Monday April 14

I have a really great looking design wall today. I have joined a Kaffe Fasset Block exchange and I am starting to get some of my blocks from the other ladies. I choose a 11 1/2" Log cabin block. The three rows on the left are my blocks that I have built. The three rows on the right are the blocks I have got in the mail so far. I got the bottom right two blocks just today. I will have so much more fun when I really start to move them around. I have not got these laid out in a special order yet.

I have added this to Judy's Design Wall Monday

Edit: I was asked how to make this block. I have directions on this post -  11 " log cabin block

My puppy needs me. She is now 5 months old.

Design Wall Monday - April 7th

Here are 8 more blocks I am making for a block exchange. They would make a nice quilt just like this, but instead I am exchanging them all.  I found a group on Face book that is the KFC Quilters Swap. The first block exchange is closed and we are now making each other blocks using the KFC ( Kaffe Fassett Collection) of fabric. There will be other block exchanges later this year, if you are looking for one.

I hope the ladies like the blocks I will be sending them. So far there have been some great blocks being shown. I was aiming for Bright on this block. I think I nailed Bright.

Here is the 12" block all on it's own. The orange yellow fabric is the tropical print.

This one has a little more blue and the pink tropical fabric.

I will be making a few more in the coming weeks.

Judy N quilt complete

I did the machine quilting for a friend and customer last month and forgot to show it off. It is all paper pieced using batik fabrics and the black cotton. I love it.

I did spiky quilting on the long spikes.

The outer boarder quilting.
