Bad News Good News

Late yesterday I went to drive my van and found a flat tire (Bad news). So my husband filled it and off to the tire shop I went today. I had a screw in the tire.  I took my star struck quilt to work on the hand binding. Wish I had a photo of me sitting in the tire shop with my quilt on my lap.

The good news today is, when I got home, the mail had little package of goodness for me. I won a Blog give a way over at Kathy's Quilts. Last  month she was celebrating 1000th posts and had a give away. She contacted me and told me I had won and today the prize arrived. Thanks Kathy.  The best part is I thought it was binding chips and marking pins and when the prize arrived it had three fat quarters in it also. I did not realize the prize had fabric too.  You should go check out her blog. I love seeing what she is working on next. She has a Slow Hand Stitching linky party on Sundays.

After my tire was fixed I went to check out a second hand store my husband told me about. He is so good to encourage my habits and hobby. Someone he works with told him about some singer sewing machines and tables. So over his lunch hour we went to check it out. I found this one. It is in good shape. I need to change the electrical cords on it but other wise it is in good shape. We plugged it in and it runs nicely. My second good news for today. Now to get it out of the van, Husband I need you again.

Happy Canada Day

Happy Canada Day, Canada turns 145 years young today. This is the old barn that moved in next door this past week. The neighbours, standing in front, had a property with this barn and in selling the property they had to destroy the barn or move it, so they moved it. With the added roofs on the side, it measured 60 feet wide.  The barn has a new roof and the front has metal siding.

The side view shows the age of the barn better. See how some of the bracing went though the barn. I guess the old barn was set up for horses with stalls and automatic water bowls. They are talking about taking some of the stall out but may get horses and leaves a few stalls.

Bee Group and Shopping

I wanted to share this quilt with you. My Bee group friend bought this quilt at the Red Deer Quilt Show (only 1/4 of the quilt is showing). It was a sample quilt for a pattern by Prairie Quilt Mercantile.  They were selling some fully finished quilts and for cheep. You could not have bought the fabric for the price they were asking.
I have added this post to Linky Party Tuesdays #20

I picked up the old spools at a local garage sale this past weekend. I love them. So glad I stopped at the garage sale. I knew the lady at the sale was a fellow crafter and should have good stuff. I also got some large Rick Rack for $1.

Do you know what this is? I had one in my room as a child. It is the glass ball that covers a celling light bulb. My mom picked it up for me to use in my garden. Now to find a good spot for it.
