Bionic Gear Bag for mom

Finished another Bionic Gear Bag, this time it is for my mom. I told her I would make one for her and plan to give it to her for Mother's Day, I guess I am early this year. I am sure she will love it. 

For mom's bag I have added some special zipper charms. 3 of the charms are made from scrabble tiles, a B, an M, and then Donald Duck. Dad's name is Donald. Then a photo transfer of my dad about 3 yrs old sitting on an old Ford car. I had made some photo transfer charms a few years back and this was an extra.  

You can see I made this bag Bright! I am very happy with the family of bright colours. I have added 2 vinyl pockets, one in front of the orange pocket and one in front of the first pocket. She can put paper note in the large vinyl pocket and maybe needle packs in the front one. 

This bag is also larger than the original pattern. I have made the bag 12" wide not the 9" as in the pattern. I also added a stiff bottom in the lining so it does not fold in the middle. I got the pattern over at Sew Like a Rock Star. I love her patterns they are so worth it. I joined the site and bought this pattern and the mother load bag. There are so many great videos. I love to watch the videos and seeing how fussy I can get. The Facebook group site has some other good ideas from the members. 

Here is the all zipped up photo. I am also very close to finishing up my bag too. I still have some hand stitching down the binding.

Blue Spirals

Blue Spirals is a quilt top!

I am very happy to get this one a step closer to being done. In January, I worked on Blue blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2018. 

I think I will keep is this size and use it as a baby quilt. 

Here is a closer look at a block. It is a log cabin based blocks. I received a block like this from a block exchange. I love it and wanted to make some myself. It used up all kinds of Blue strip that were 1 1/2" wide. I did have to cut a few light blue ones that were longer, as you need the longer strips at the end of the block building.

I am working on another bag. It is a Bionic Gear Bag from Sew Like a Rock Star. I am hoping to get this one closer to being done this weekend. I sold one of my bags to a local friend. So I need a replacement bag now. I also want to make one for my mom too. 

I showed a bag I made from Sew Like a Rock Star last week. I had the rudest comment. 

Why? 

Why does anyone waste time to put others down?

Bionic Gear Bag

I completed my Bionic Gear Bag. Wow it feels like it has been months that I have been working on this. I started one before Christmas and it did not go well for me. I made a major cutting mistake and I could not get the bag to fit together, so I restarted with all new fabric and zippers. I watched so many videos too.

If you want to make one, the pattern is on line to purchase. I got my pattern on Sew Like a Rock Star. This is Sally's main web page and I also got the Mother Load bag which is the bigger Gear bag with a coupon code. I will have to make it too. I then signed up for the Weekend Warrior projects too. Sally has all kinds of videos on her site. A good handful of the videos are free but you need to sign up for a free membership. To get the bag you need to buy the pattern. 

I did change it a little before I started to sew it together. 

Part way, this is near when I had to stop on the first one. I had cut the pockets too small and could not get the side part to work, too much fabric to get in between the zippers. This is the good bag before the out fabric and before the binding. So far this one is looking good. 

Totally done and ready to put to work. I can put all kinds of sew supplies in my bag to go. Then you open your bag at retreat and use the little tray area to put out the tools your using the most. Yes my seam ripper is there, quick to grab. 

Here is the bag all closed up and ready to travel. I love the fabric I used, so bright and cheery. Later this year I will have to make my mom one of these bags.
