Green March

I got some Sister's choice blocks done in green this week. They will look good with my pink and yellow ones. I am so far behind for green this month. We have been warmer and most of the snow is gone. Many winters we have lots still and it is colder. Walks and training with the dogs has been great, but it means less time to quilt. 

To see more about the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2021 check out the link. For years now, about 10 years, I have been Following along and doing blocks in the given colour. I have many quilts done and many more started by doing the colour of the month. I love how it works. 

Two new books came this week. I have Lori's Farm Girl Vintage books one and 2. The blocks from these books play nicely with the other blocks in Farm Girl Vintage. I really wanted the other dog blocks. Looks like I might be making more quilts from here. Love the Christmas blocks. 

 

Piggy and Tulips

Slowly I get another block or two done on my Farm girl Vintage quilt. I really just wanted to do this block. I love the background fabric, Pigs! How could I not put some of this fabric in the quilt. I should use it a few more times as the background. I got it at Country Stitches out in Windfleild AB. A quilt shop worth taking a road trip for. 

Both these blocks finish up to 6" in size. Both are also from the second book 

Up next was Cheerful Tulips  I think I made the block while I was on a zoom meeting with the guild. I did not have a job and did not need to talk so I was muted and did some sewing. 

I also get texting with my friend Nadine sometimes also with Pam. But they have jobs at those meeting. I laugh as we are a little like the bad girls at the back of the room texting. 

 

Farm Girl Vintage

 

So a few years ago I started making some blocks from Farm Girl Vintage. The book as being raffled off and I did not win the book, my friend Nadine won the book. But I bought my own copy and made a few 6" block. While Nadine and Pam, another friend, and I have decided we want to work on blocks together. So this fall we got started. I had some blocks done already, like the cherries, strawberries and the kettle. So we have been chatting with each other as we work on blocks and send out many text messages. I wish we could sew together, in person. 

Nadine uses her dice to roll for which block we are doing next. This is kind of fun, except I am now behind. Nadine uses her multi sided dice. Last Fall I got the cute house block done. I love that I was able to get the two black labs in the windows. My dogs are Dolly and Gemma, both black labs. 

Also this fall I got this cowgirl boot done. I had a pair of blue boots for dancing when I was at University. All the dances where western style, so boots were good. 

So I have a list of 20 blocks to do and only 13 blocks on the list done. I guess I have a few to do to get caught up. 

The books. Nadine and Pam were so sweet and got me the copy of book 2. I guess as a more experienced quilter they felt they wanted to show me how much I have helped them. So sweet and thank you ladies. We might also have another friend join us, not sure if she bought the books yet or not. 

We will see if I can get a few blocks done again. I will post when I do get more done. 

Cherry On Top

I got some photos of my Cherry On Top quilt. I think I will use it as a table topper but I might try hanging in the kitchen first. I got the pattern for the cherry block and the layout from the Vintage Farm Girl. The layout is the little chick quilt but I used the Cherry block. I just had fun digging out my Red and Pink prints to make the round cherries. 

I also found this print for the boarder after I had done the blocks. I just loved the cherries. 

I did all the quilting on my long arm. I loved how the quilting worked out. 

Here it is hanging at the Leduc show this fall.

Cherry Quilt and quilts for sale

I am slowly making some progress on the little cherry quilt. The little blocks get the triangles added in the corner and then I can work on the sashing between the blocks. I plan to use this as a table runner.

I have two pages to sell my quilts. Art quilts are here and more traditional quilts are here. You can also get to the pages at the top bar on the page. I update the pages every few months. Today I added Urban Encroachment to the Art quilt page. This quilt has been a part of the Life Lines show. 

I am planning on taking a large number of these quilts to the Edmonton and District Quilter's Quild Show. The will have a member's market mall where I can offer my quilts for sale. The Quilt show is June 3rd and 4th at the Central Lions Seniors Centre at 11113-113 Street NW Edmonton. The times are June 3 Saturday 10 am till 5 pm and June 4th Sunday 10 am till 4 pm.  

Cherry Blocks

I love the little 6 inch cherry blocks. The pattern is from Farm girl Vintage book. I worked on the blocks this past week. 

I was planning on posting to the Design Wall Monday, but it is no more. Kind of sad but she is not quilting much anymore. I find Monday is a good day to show off some quilting I have done on the weekend. 

Now I am getting to the sashing and planning that is needed to finish the little quilt top. I am planning a square table runner. Not sure if I am going to want to use for everyday table, I might get bad stains on it. 

I have loved the Red and Turquoise together. I found fabric with mini cherries on Turquoise. 

I also got a photo of my little tea pot. 

Farm Girl Vintage

 I did a few more blocks from the book Farm Girl Vintage. This block is not in the book but is one of the extra blocks you can buy. I just love the garden and had to make peas and carrots. I love eating garden fresh peas and carrots with a dab of butter. 

Maybe I need a bunny to go next to my peas and carrots. Happy Easter!

The milk can with many different fabrics used. I should say I am working on 6" blocks, so I will need many blocks for a good size quilt. 

Here are all my vintage blocks so far. I know already I will be making more then one project from this book. I hope to do a quilt but then also a table topper with fruit, lots of red and turquoise. 

Also on the machine this weekend is my Tulip quilt. I have not decide how to quilt it so, I load it on the machine and force myself to do it.  

Up next will be the kettle block. I am loving my little design boards I made last week. I can cut out the pieces and lay out the fabric. I don't have to remeasure all the little bits because I know what I cut.

Spring Time Reds

I worked hard on my Red scrap bin this past week. It took me a long time to get this much done. There is a tiny bit of purple to the right side. You can see I also had to cheat and dig out my green scraps too. How can I make Tulips and Strawberries with out a little green.

Happy St Paddy's Day. 

Now, how much do I love this 6" Strawberry block? It is so cute! A face book quilting friend made one in pink. I fell in love. I had to make one for myself  and could not stop at 1 but made 3.  

3 Strawberries. I will make some pink ones later when we get the colour pink. Not sure I will make all the blocks in the sampler but maybe just a bunch of the better blocks. 

Tulips 6" tall and that splash of green. 

I am not sure what I was thinking. I made 31 Red tulips. I cut scraps for 12 then thought that is not enough. then cut more. No still I cut more. Oops I cut for 31 red tulips. I cut lots of green, then I would run out of green and had to cut more. Then I needed more 2" squares of white. Then I would sew, no still need to cut more. Why did I do 31? They were never ending. I have a few purple ones started but ran out of leaves again. Maybe next week. 

Love this angle. kind of like a field of red tulips planted in rows. Did you know Canada gets Red tulips from Holland each year as a thank you for liberating them in the war? Someday I might have to go see Ottawa in the spring, like a good Canadian. 

A few more Red Maple leaves. 

I got 7 more done so a total of 9 so far. I need more. I hope to give 20 to my friend and keep some for myself.

So the tulip pattern is from Quilty Fun and I have been working on blocks in this book for a few years. I am not sure how many quilts I will make. I am sure I will get 3 or 4 quilts. The Strawberries came from the Farm Girl Vintage. I picked up this book this week. I feel a new quilt coming on. Opps another new start, or 2.
