Edmonton Guild Quilt Show

On the weekend I spent Sunday at the Edmonton and District Quilter's guild bi annual Quilt Show. I took a few photos and thought I better share some of them with you.

My Mom Betty, got a few ribbons. This is her with her Gypsy Wife Quilt. I did the machine quilting.

She got one of these pretty hand embellished Ribbons.

My log cabin plaid quilt with the hearts. I have not gotten a real good photo of this quilt. I had many comment to me about the long arm quilting I did on this quilt. I did feather hearts and I was very pleased with how this quilting up. I got this quilt done in Oct 2015 a few months after the last Edmonton guild show, so it was eligible to be shown here.

My Christmas Postage Stamp Quilt. I really like this quilt.

This quilt is also my mom's. I do all her machine quilting. It got a 3rd place.
She had 2 other quilts that got ribbons but I did not get photos of them. I must have gotten distracted by all the shopping.

Also at the quilt show they had a Members Mall. This corner was were my quilts and wall hanging were. Wow they had a good sized room and were able to show off my quilts better then I thought. I was told I would get a table and could bring a quilt rack. I did not know some were going to get up on the wall.

There is a table with my book ( the Yellow paged book is one of the other members). I worked hard on the book as I thought it would help sell a stack of quilts. There was enough to look at I am not sure many really looked at my book. It is nice to have it done now.
The framed wall quilts are mine. I thought this was a good place for these framed ones to sell.

Another view of the my art for sale.

As the quilt show is were we show off the finished quilts, I have added this post to Crazy Mom Quilts and Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

Easy Street

I got a good finished photo of my Easy Street. This was a Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt from November of 2012 I think. I have gone back to my early photos and that was when I think we started it. I never get the top done till months later. Then the top sits in line waiting to be quilted. We all know the last quilts done belong to the long arm quilter that quilts for hire. We always have so many more to do first.

I had started this quilt with the suggested Gray four patches. But I did not like it. So I replaced the grey and made the four patches with Bright pink, now it feels like a quilt I would make. I love these colours. So happy it is done. It measures 96" square. I have quilted it with feathers ll over it.

I got the block together at retreat the fall of 2013. That is my mom sewing just below the top.

I was going to add it to   Crazy Mom Quilts but I am too late. Maybe next time.

Scrap Tiles

I had this quilt finished some time ago but never got a good photo of it totally done. Well Yesterday the wind was not blowing 6o km/hr so it was a little easier to take some outdoor photos.

This quilt was mostly sewn with my leftover bits and pieces. I like to call this method Poverty Piecing.  I had a shoe box with partly sewn triangles, strips and some four patches. It has 3 or 4 years worth of past quilt leftovers. I had one quilt that asked for grey and white four patches, But I hated the grey and white in that other quilt. So I picked out the four patches and replaced the grey with Hot Pink. I love the change in the other quilt. I used the grey four patches here and I love how they turned out.

Here is my detail shot. You can see there is all kinds of cotton fabric, bright plaids, strips, batiks, crazy prints like the oranges, and  few hand dyed fabrics. I did an all over large stipple quilting. A nice even stitch.

Today I am finishing up the quilting on a customers quilt and thinking about my packing for Retreat. Mom and I have the Leduc Guild Retreat this weekend. So much fun! I have one new project I am taking to start. Then my Allietare Mystery from Bonnie Hunter. I have not worked on that for a few months and I would like to get a big chunk of that done.

Jacket and Bag

Last fall I started this jacket. I have been getting some good use out of my jacket this fall. We now have snow and it is not really warm enough for snow. I looked back and I had not posted a finished photo of my jacket. I have had lots of great comments. One lady want me to make one for her. I told her she could not pay me enough. I am not sure she liked my answer.

I got this cute bag done this month. I love the west coast fish batik fabric and I am very pleased with how it shows off the fish well. I got this fabric on a holiday to Victoria BC. The quilt shop had fabric with Eyes on sale. So I picked the fish out. The Pink batik was so nice, that I went back to the local shop and got what was left on the bolt 1.8M. Glad I have more to play with, it goes with so many fabric, just enough purple or blue in it.

I kind of followed this FREE Pattern on Craftsy, it is called Sew South Tote Bag . But I did it without all the interfacing and I quilted the outer fabric and used batting in the handles. The bag measures around 18 by 20 or so. Great for taking a quilt project with me or some shopping.

I have added this too Crazy Mom Quilts Finish up Friday

Soon, so soon, We will be able to see the first step of Bonnie Hunter's new Mystery Quilt. I am ready to start it. That great Pink is in the stack.
