Must Ketchup

I got my Good Fortune Mystery, Pattern by Bonnie Hunter, is now a top. I still have to finish all the pieced boarders. Two more to go. I think I will just do it the way she had the quilt. I see others added or took off boarders. But I like the way she had it. 

Sorry it has been a month since my last post. I have been trying to stay off the computer a bit and get real life work done. 

I dyed some wool for sock knitting. I have started to use the blue green one. It is knitting up well. 

I also got another pair of wool socks done. This was also a hand dyed wool that I did a few years ago. I have wore them now. 

Looks like spring is on the way. We had lots of snow but it is melting. Saturday I rode my horse in the snowy fields.

I have been looking back at 2018 and thinking about the new year 2019. 

Good Fortune is a good start to the new year! 

My mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter this year is Good Fortune. I have been working on a slower pace this year and yet I am all caught up with Friday's last clue 6. I think I just have to iron and count clue 3 the little green triangles. I should have enough. You can see I have pink added in, it is my replacement to the Orange.

Yesterday, I was at a friends house doing a painting class. Paint your pet! So much fun. The black purple puppy I did back in May, my Gemma. Yesterday, I painted Lex, the Brown Chesapeake Bay. He is no longer with us but in memory. 

I think it turned out Great. I think I showed of his personality perfectly. 

My husband wants to hang up this one for sure.

Looking back at mine and Gemma's Agility year, I could not be happier with our team. We had a great year even with missing out the first few months to heal a toe. We took out all our title ribbons but 2 more are missing. We got some big titles this year. Hoping our 2019 can be just as much fun. 

On Ringo Lake

Last year the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt was On Ringo Lake. I did not work on it much in early 2018. As a waited for the next mystery, I have dug out the old mysteries and took a look at what I needed to do to finish. Well Ringo Lake has a ways to go. So I have worked on it the past couple of weeks. 

I got the Chevron units together and I finished the blocks. I did as I used the current mystery clues as Leaders and enders. I now have all blocks done. There was only 12 blocks done so this took some time. Now I can put on the chevron units and start to think about putting the blocks in to rows.

Good Fortune is under way! 

If you want to do this years mystery, Check out Bonnie Hunter's Mystery site. Last Friday she released Clue 3 so easy to get started and not be too far behind. 

I have all of clue 1 done the Red four patches. I have a few more to trim up on clue 2 the Blue Triangles. Then I a just starting clue 3 the green chevrons and little triangles. I do have all my fabric cut out for clue 3 and have done the test sewing. I am getting them the correct size so now I can be full steam ahead. 

I just love to use these white flannel pallets to use as I sew. I can see the fabrics laid out in the counted piles. I use the pallets to take my units to the ironing board or the design wall. 

Once I have the units done and counted out I use one of these 13" square boxes. I can see what is in the box. I can take the project with me if I am sewing somewhere else, like mom's house. I use these blocks for most of my quilting blocks.

Another Mystery Quilt

On Friday the first clue for Bonnie Hunter's New mystery quilt Good Forture came out. All over, many of us quilter's that follow Bonnie, got started. This week I have been featuring many of my old mystery quilts. I am not very good at finishing them. But I love to get started.  I feel I need to start with the rest of you. Why resist ? 

Today I show you En Provence, the mystery quilt from 2016. This quilt is not blocks yet. I worked hard to keep up until I had to put the blocks together. I have disliked the yellow. So all the units sit in a box. 

Here it is with a pink. Still not right. I might have to go back to the yellow. Not sure. I also had some trouble with a bunch of units. I did not read correctly. The units with Green had o be done over a few times. 

Today I got to do some cutting and sewing for Good Forture. Wow love all the little Red four patches. I almost did it wrong again. I started with some red scraps that I thought was the correct size. Opps. I had to put them back, they were too big. At the last minute I checked Bonnie's page and did the cutting correctly. So I started a page with short hand of sizes colours and the number of units. I need to stay on track. 

I am just getting started. Here is a look at the first little bunch of four patches. So many little bits and I love it. 

Not loving the yellow stained ironing board. Might have to fix that someday. 

Not one red was bought for this quilt. It is all stash.

Easy Street

Easy Street is the Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt from the fall of 2012. I am continuing to show you my past Mystery quilts. 

I got this quilt done in 2016. I started out with all Bonnie's colours but then my Grey 4 patches were yuck. I had used a light to Medium grey and it just blended with my white prints. I took them out. I think I had 5 or 6 blocks done with the grey. 

I added the pink instead. 

WOW what a great change. 

Love this quilt. So glad I made the change. 

I ended up using the grey 4 patches in another quilt. See how good they look here. Love how the 4 patches worked well here. I made this quilt with all kinds of left over patches form quilts.

With just one day till the clue is out, I have picked out my fabric. I am taking out the orange and putting in Pink. I love the Blue Green and Red together. 

You can see I have a few fabrics with cute stuff. Pink fish, Blue bones, Green with more dog stuff and the bunnies on Red. I think I will be happy with this little change. Not sure I wanted that much orange in a quilt. 

So one more day till Bonnie release clue #1 of the  Good Fortune.

Mystery Quilt Time

It is so close to Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt time. 

The first clue is Friday Morning. 

This year the name is Good Fortune.

 I have started many of these mystery quilt but have not got many totally done. 

Today I started to pull fabric out of my stash for Good Fortune. 

I am not done but maybe before Friday I can fine tune my fabrics. 

This is my Grand Illusion quilt. So far it is just a quilt top. I could not find a photo of the top so I got it out this week to get a photo. I forget what year we did this one. Must be at least 3 years ago. 

Maybe this week I should post about a few of the other mystery quilts I have worked on. Get them out and see what I have to do to get them done.
