Pink to Teals

I got more pink done near the end of February, but had trouble posting about it. Here I have a 8"spool block I found out how to make it over at Sew Cook and Travel blog. She has been doing some for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014. The little pinwheel is left over from the extra triangles.  I also got 11 string triangles done in pink.

I got another 6" sampler block done, using a little Hawaii fabric. How I wish I was in Hawaii now.

Here is my Blue lantern really from the month of January. I now can cut out the Teals today.

I got some tulip heads done in pink. I have a orange tulip from last year to show you how they finish up. I am thinking I might just wait till the green shows up to do the green leaves and stem.

Here is all the pink I did since last time I posted (two weeks ago). I also have the 2 large pink strings. I am planing to trim them up to 16 " squares. You can also see some pink and purple four patches. I had 2" squares kicking around and sewed them together.

Here is all the pink from February. I always think it is so impressive to see the whole months work up on the wall all at once. Sorry the photo is a bit fussy, I am having so much trouble with all my electronic equipment. Camera troubles then I can not print yet, need a new printer. It is never ending.

You can join into the Rainbow Scrap Challenge at any time, or just go see what other are working on.

We are super cold here -39C, -40C and -40F are the same, to give you an idea how cold I mean. The puppy is hanging out in the sun spots.

Pink Saturday

I have a few more pink sampler blocks done this week. They measure 6 1/2". I really like the bottom Right pinwheel block.

I am calling this my Lanterns. I did not get the blue one done yet. I hope soon. I had a bunch of 2" strips so I think my are smaller than some peoples.

Here is the full wall today. I also got a few little nine patches too. They are hard to stop making. I do not know what I will make with them but I think I have to make more nine patches. Next week will be the last Pink Saturday, so I hope to put all my pink back up on the wall, as it really looks good together.

I have added this post to Soscrappy RSC 2014 this week. Go see more pink from all the others.

OK I am showing off my smart puppy again. I have been working on a game called It's Your Choice. She is 3 1/2 months old, so this game takes lots of self control. She has a kibble on each front paw and more on the floor, plus a full food dish. When she is holding still and not taking food she is hand given a kibble. So you see she has to work for her supper. My husband helped take the photo as there is no way I could mange the game and the camera.

Hexie Sampler Block

I prepared this block yesterday so I had some hand stitching to do while watching the Olympics. I am watching the team skating. This little block will measure 6" when sewn in. It will be a sampler I will work on this year as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. The hexagons measure 1" on a side. They seem so big. I have done 3/4" mostly in the past.

I have added this post to Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching.

Gemma had a big sprint around the house and is now slowed down and sleeping under my chair. Our weather is very cold so we did not have a good walk yesterday and I am sure we will not get a good walk outside today either.

Scrap Saturday Tinkled Pink

I have started the month of February scraps with four 6" sampler blocks. Three of the blocks have come from the blocks that Soscrappy  has shared with us.

This block I am calling Cake Cross. It is Block #2 in the 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. I love this cute little cake print and I just had to fussy cut a few cakes for this block.

I have bought a few new books this month. I bought this one for using in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014 (RSC14). There are many great blocks I can use for my scraps.

I also got two pineapple log cabin blocks done. There measure 4 1/2" as they are very small and take loads of time to do. Some of the smallest bits of fabric can be used. I am not sure how many I will do, the big quilt calls for . They are from Bonnie Hunter's String Fling book. I did have a little pink in the two blocks.

I went back to the blue scraps and cut out some scraps for a Lantern block.

Here are the pink scraps cut out for the Lantern Blocks. They are 2" wide.

This is a start of the cutting for the background fabrics for the lantern blocks. I hope to get the pink block and blue block sewn for next week. You will have to wait for me to show you what I am calling a Lantern block. Yes, this is a new project for me.

Chairs Makeover

I have had these chairs for about 10 years. They were my Grandmother's and she gave them to me when she down sized. The seats were green and the fabric was tearing and tattered. I finally decided what to do. I found this Philip Jacob print in a heavy weight than quilting cotton. My dad cut new plywood and helped me redo the foam and fabric. I am very pleased how they turned out. Very bright and cheery. I have so much brown and tan in my house it is nice to add some colour.

It took me so long to redo these chairs because I could not decide what to do. I did think I would make hooked wool rug seats. But I kind of gave up hooking. Then I did think I could do some patchwork and make a quilted cover. I just never got started. They are not square and I had trouble with that. Then I saw this fabric. I did not buy it at first but them went back and got enough to do the job.
Thanks Dad for your help.

Cuteness overload, Gemma my new lab puppy.

How can you not love that little sweet little face. My little Treasure.

I hope to get back to my quilting posts tomorrow.

Blue Scrap Saturday

I have been working on my Blue scraps this month, Just not getting around to posting about it. I am doing the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014. I did 2012 and 2013 yet I still have tons of scraps. If I run out I can cut some older fabric to add to the box. Bits of fabric like older fat quarters that are half gone. So slowly I will use up some of my stash too.

So far I have a few of the blue sampler blocks done. The top right one is an extra I had the parts for. Some of the blocks are all blue and some have a neutral as the light fabric.

I also have always had lots of 2 1/2" triangle around but was running short of Blue ones. I have an idea for a block or blocks but needed more 2 1/2" triangles, so I have made a few more. One of the block ideas I have, has more then just blue in it so I may not get to it right away, but the Blue Triangles are ready to go.

I also did some cutting for a few blocks I want to do but did not get them sewn yet. Maybe I can try for next Saturday. Till then they are cut and ready to start.

I got this cool little pincushion as a gift over Christmas. We did a pincushion exchange at the Leduc quilt guild and this is the one I got. Love it.

Me and Gemma the day I picked her up.
Just a warning that you may see lots of puppy photos in my blog this year.
I am off to a Dog Agility trial today with puppy in tow.

I will add this to the link for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014 when I get home later today. I did the edit.

Friday Finish and Puppy Love

I have been really busy this past month and not much sewing. I also have had computer troubles. Sorry for not posting much.

I got this table mat done. I have some of these heavy cork mats but they are looking sad so I made a cover for one of them. I used all selvages and used a "quilt as you go" method.

There are some very cute selvages.

I have added the post to Crazy Mom Quilts

Here is the back, Limes. I first made the pocket in the middle but the cover would not go over the stiff mat so I had to change the opening at one end so the mat could go inside. I will know for next time.

Cuteness Overload.

I got a new puppy. This is Gemma my Black Lab Pup. Now you know what else has kept me busy. We picked her up Jan 1st at 8 weeks old. These photos are just a few days after we got home. I already need more new photos, she is growing. I have plans to do Agility with her. I might have to get in shape and learn to run faster.

Here she is next to Lex, wow what a size difference.

Now that I seam to have some of my computer trouble smoothed over maybe I can get back to posting a few times a week.

Quilting More

I have been busy quilting for customers still. I got done all the Christmas present quilts done. This was one of them from a little while back. I still have lots to do this week and I am not felling so good. I have that Pre Christmas cold. I hope I am over it by next week.

I hope to get more photos soon. We have so little natural light this time of year. I have not done lots of sewing, Just bits here and there.

Here is my husband on his horse Socks. We have so much more snow now. I bet the snow would be at his knees now. We also have a good layer of ice on the top of the snow so it is not nice to go riding. They are both so cute.

Finish Up Friday

I got another scarf done this week. It will be added to the Christmas gifts. It is a nice thick warm one.

Here are the two yarns I used, a pink eyelash and the Chenille. I love this Chenille and wish I had more of it.

I also have pear pincushions done. One is for me and I have been using it for a little while now. The second one was my gift at the Leduc Black Gold Quilt Patch Christmas exchange. I also gave a package of new silk pins. The pear is a pattern Here by Heater Bailey. The pattern came with Apples, Strawberries and Tomatoes too. I may have to make them all. I have a few planned for Christmas gifts. I used some Bear beads in the bottom of the pears so they would sit well and then some polyester stuffing.
See how much snow we have? It is very cold now too, -30 C or colder.
