Canadian Slab Quilt # 2 totally done. I just got the binding done after lunch and then rushed outside to get some photos. These quilts are going towards the Canada's Big Quilt Bee hosted by CQA. The blocks were to be slab blocks like Cheryl Arkison block in Sunday Morning Quilts but 12 1/2" and they were to have at least one Canadian fabric in it.
Here are the 2 finished ones together so you know I did really do 2. They are kind of a like but as they are scraps they are not really the same.
I did the binding with different fabrics. I think I like the red one the best. I use stripped fabric for many of my bindings so I am surprised I like the red that much.
Another close up.
I also took some shots in the lawn. I think all the yellow dandelions are so cute around my quilt. My husband hates dandelions and any minute they are going to be mowed. Really, he just walked out the door saying he is off to mow. He hates to see a field of yellow.
Mowers running now!
I have added this post to Crazy Mom Quilts, and Confessions of a Fabric Addict with Can I get Whoop Whoop. I will also plan to add this post to Soscrappy's Saturday linky party as I did do many blocks with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017.
great job on the quilts! (I love any flowers in the lawn, too!)ReplyDelete
happy sewing ~ Tracy
What a pretty quilt. I read a bit about the Canadian celebration quilts as they were being introduced and it's fun now to see them being completed. I also love quilts in fields of dandelions! So, so pretty. I'm glad you got the photo before your husband got to the mower!ReplyDelete
visiting from crazy mum quilts. This is fantastic. Two quilts finished. I love the word Slab, it immediately told me how you had constructed the piecing.ReplyDelete
Your slab quilts turned out great! Gotta love all that bright, rainbow goodness :) I like the field of dandelions as a photoshoot backdrop, too!ReplyDelete
They look great, isn't it wonderful what can be done with just scraps.ReplyDelete
Fun, happy quilts. Congrats on TWO finishes!ReplyDelete
Two beautiful quilts!! Love them!!ReplyDelete
Two beautiful donation quilts.ReplyDelete
Gosh those are beautiful!ReplyDelete
What fun quilts! I like stripes for bindings too. Red seems to be a popular choice these days though!ReplyDelete
What a fun project. Each quilt is unique, but the pattern is still clear.ReplyDelete
Two FABULOUS scrappy finishes!! Congratulations.ReplyDelete
Your quilts are a perfect example of why so many quilters love scrap quilts. They are bright and fun and are sure to cheer any child who receives them.ReplyDelete
Both of your quilts are really beautiful, Cathy. And will be such a blessing to two children who need a quilty hug!ReplyDelete
They are beautiful! Perfect photo shoot. Love the dandelions in the picture. Glad you were able to snap a picture before they were cut down.ReplyDelete
