Scrappy Green Saturday

I worked on the many many tiny bits of green scraps. I had tons of little triangles left from making binding. I love to use green for my binding. I got 10 crumb 6" blocks done. I also like to call this Poverty Piecing, as I am making something out of nothing. I love the depth of the greens in these blocks.

I got five Lime green sprout blocks done. I still have enough that I may get 5 more darker green blocks done this next week. You can find the pattern at Tracey Jay Quilts

I found the clover block on Pinterest but then I did not like the web site instructions, so I kind of made up my own. They look the same. Can you see the background fabric? It is horse Shoes. How very lucky is that?

This is Selvages. Yes I have gone crazy and mad and silly all at once. I sewed the green (and other colours here and there) bits of 2" wide selvages I had collected.  I have no idea what I will do with them now. I need to sew more before I can make much.

I will be adding this post to the linky party over at Soscrappy.  Go see what other are doing with their green scraps.

So I am out the door today. The Leduc Black Gold Quilt Patch is having a Quit till you Wilt day. We have rented a church for the day and are sewing up a storm. We have another crappy weather weekend with snow/rain/sleet. There are no agility dog trials locally. So I sew today. We also have pot luck supper planned. It should be a good time.

Evergreen Scrap Saturday

I got 19 spools done this past week. I love the bright lime green ones the best. I still have a bowl full to sew.

I still did more sorting and cutting down the scraps. I need 2" squares, 2 1/2" squares and 3" squares for some of the blocks I am planning. I will also use some strings. Then the smallest bits can be used in crumb blocks.

I have added today's post to So Scrappy and the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2013.

I still have so much planned to do in Green. Here is a list
1) coin strips
2) 16 patches with 2" squares
3) triangles with strings
4) More tulip bottoms
5) sprout blocks
6) crumb blocks 6"sq
7) around about

I got 48 flying geese done today. I am still not sure how or where this geese will be used but they are cute.

I had to show you these trees - evergreens. They are from an old UFO quilt top. I made them by using a pleater board. They are 3D.

Design Wall Monday April 6th

I found my sitting dog pattern. I designed this paper piece pattern many years ago and wanted to remake the dog. I am planning a binder cover for my dog journal. Lex is a Brown Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I have been busy with the a one line dog training course and they tell us we should journal every day about our work with the dog. I want a fancy cover for my binder.

On the right is an old block that is needed in a UFO quilt. I have the old UFO quilt mostly designed but not sewn together. I did not want to just steel the block. Now the new dog will face the opening of the binder.

Judy over at Patchwork Times hosts Design Wall Monday. I have added today's post to her linky party.

I have also been working on my Easy Street blocks. But I quickly ran out of the four patches. I changed them from grey to pink and I thought I had made enough ( the stack of square looked big enough) well I needed 68 more. I just did not make enough. Also had to cut more lime green squares. I must of only made half the number of required units on some steps. What was I thinking. I hope that is all I am short of.

Where is the Green?

We have no sign of spring here. No sign of green outside yet, still lots of white stuff. It snowed again last night. The roads have been bad for three days. Time to stay inside a sew up a storm.

I have my green scraps well sorted. This is a pile of green and neutral triangles I have leftover from past projects.  I can do lots with them for scrap blocks.

I made kits of green spools out of the scraps. I am thinking I have around 50 here so far. I place them in the red and black fabric bowl and have it next to my machine as Leaders and Enders. This stack should do for the month of April.

I got three Jack in the Box blocks done using the triangles I had. I got the pattern from Bonnie Hunter's Addicted to Scraps Here.  I used the 2 1/2" unfinished Triangles. I have no plans to use the sashing in the pattern shown but maybe no sashing at all.

I had a few Orange blocks done last week. This week I went back and did the pink and purple blocks too. I am thinking I might add blue and yellow ones later and then just finish this one into a small quilt. I do not have any new extra baby quilt. They are good to have on hand in case you need a gift.

I have added today's post to Soscrappy were you can find more green scrap projects. I am a day late posting but I guess late is better than never.

Yesterday was a Dog Agility Trial. Lex and I passed our first Master Standard class. It was a tough course too, many good dogs and handlers did not fair well. Lex saved me on one jump as I made a mistake in handling. A very good boy, he was. The roads to the trial were not good in the morning. I had a close call, as a driver came down the Devon bridge crossing on the wrong side, in my lane. I had a truck in front and in the other lane so I just saw the car in the last seconds and had to change lanes. Felt the Van slip but stayed on the road. Wow to close a call, Glad to be ALIVE.
