Easy Street

Easy Street is the Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt from the fall of 2012. I am continuing to show you my past Mystery quilts.
I got this quilt done in 2016. I started out with all Bonnie's colours but then my Grey 4 patches were yuck. I had used a light to Medium grey and it just blended with my white prints. I took them out. I think I had 5 or 6 blocks done with the grey.
I added the pink instead.
WOW what a great change.

Love this quilt. So glad I made the change.

I ended up using the grey 4 patches in another quilt. See how good they look here. Love how the 4 patches worked well here. I made this quilt with all kinds of left over patches form quilts.

With just one day till the clue is out, I have picked out my fabric. I am taking out the orange and putting in Pink. I love the Blue Green and Red together.

You can see I have a few fabrics with cute stuff. Pink fish, Blue bones, Green with more dog stuff and the bunnies on Red. I think I will be happy with this little change. Not sure I wanted that much orange in a quilt.

So one more day till Bonnie release clue #1 of the  Good Fortune.

Roll Roll Cotton Boll

I first found out about the Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilts from my Ante Arley. The Roll Roll Cotton Boll was almost done when I found out about it. I got told I should print out the pattern right away if I wanted to do the quilt. So I did. The first photo is Arley's quilt, I quilted it for her. The pattern is now in Bonnie's book Spring Fling. I love the book and might end up doing most of the quilts in that book.

Here is what my blocks were looking like.

The stacks of blocks.

The quilting is done but it did not show up in the photo.
I do not think I have every shown this quilt done on my blog before.

Here is the quilt complete and on a bed. I did make it bigger with an extra row. My mom helped me finish this quilt and then we gave it to a family member getting married. The Bride loved it.

Tuffet Gift

I thought I had lost these photos. Look I found them. Here is the third and last tuffet I made for Christmas.

I used all black and white fabric and made sure they have mostly black. Two of the fabrics are batik. I got this one done just in time. It would not have be possible if not for the help of my dear Dad.

I have added this post to Crazy Mom Quilts and the Finish up Friday link.

I lost a few photos over the holidays. So sorry they are so old but I just have to show you. Here is part of the yard. We had heavy frost and then clean sunny weather, the world was covered in sparkles and glitter.

Next is the Christmas tree. It was extra special this year. We cut one of the trees we grew. Back in 2002 we planted a few hundred blue spruce trees in our lower field. This year has been the first time we cut our own tree. I loved this tree. I hope we can take a few more over the years.

Christmas Gifts

I can show you the tuffets I made. The Red one was made for my mom, Betty. When I was starting I asked my dad to make some feet for me. He has his wood shop in my yard these days. I think turning is a favorite for him to do. So yes these feet are made by him. Mom has a carpet with the dark red but very little red in her house. so now a big splash of red on her tuffet.

Mom was pleased with her gift.

The Blue one I made for my mother in law. She has blue and brown in her house. I thought dark blue would wear better then light blue. I pulled her name for Christmas this year. I think she was surprised to get it.  All the fabrics are Kaffe Fassett.

The feet on this tuffet are the store bought ones I got for myself. I now have a set dad made for me.

I made one more for a gift. The photos are on my phone. It will have to wait and be another blog post another day. I also want to make one for myself. Maybe later in the week.

I also must say a big thank you to dad! He helped me for days and days. We worked on getting the batting and the fabric all stapled in place. I gave him a button to help me with , opps, he took the pliers and a screw driver to it. I had to buy another button to cover. He was a big help and just a few days before Christmas.

Happy Canada Day

Finished all 3 quilts!

My mom and I have been working on 3 quilts to give to Fort Mac people who have lot their homes to the wild fires in early May. I can not imagine what they have been through. First running from the flames not know what will happen to their homes or jobs.  I can only hope these quilts can give them a big HUG.

This quilt was mostly blocks I received from 2 internet swaps that used the Kaffe Fassett collection of fabric. I also made a block for myself with the same pattern I used and sent out to others. I thought this was a very good use for the blocks. So back in May I had a stack of homeless blocks. Now a quilt.

I started this quilt the weekend the Leduc quilt guild had a big sewing bee for Fort Mac. I used lots of fabric off the donation table. Then I added some of my Hawaii fabric too.  It has turned out very cute.

I did the machine quilting for all three and my mom did the binding and labels for all three. We make a good team.

This quilt was mostly pieced by my Mom. I had a stack of 16 patches and 4 patches left from a old project. There was enough blocks still to make another quilt. It is the 3rd one like this. It is beautiful and soft.

1st of the Fort McMurray Quilts

The Leduc Black Gold Quilt Patch has been working on Quits to send to people from Fort McMurray. Many homes were lost in the wild fires and people are still not back to town to see if their homes. Many know if they lost everything. This is one that I started a little over a week ago. I just got the machine quilting done today. It is ready for the binding, I am hoping my mom will do that for me. The binding will be the dark plaid fabric.

The Black Gold Quilt Patch guild did a big weekend work bee. I got the cute owl fabric and the background colour from the donation table. I then donated many of the other cute prints from my Hawaii fabrics and the batting. The backing fabric was donated from the Purple Katz Quilt Shop. They gave the guild a lot of large backings. There were many shops who gave us fabric to use but I do not know who all did. The Executive Royal Inn in Nisku let the guild use one of the rooms for 4 days so we could work together and get many quilts done. We were hoping to get 100 done and so far we passed that number. I know my mom and I are working on 3 together and this is the closest one to being done.

Here is the lay out I did just before I started to put the rows together.

I have added this post to Crazy Mom Quilts and Finish up Friday

Gemma and I got our Agility Dog of Canada with the Agility Assignation of Canada since I last posted. Our first big ribbon. Our judge was Meaghan O'Neil and it was her first time to give out a title as a new judge.
