Colour of Sunshine

I have 2 Dear Jane blocks done so far. The left one is D-7 Meeting place. Without realizing it I picked to do this block with a fabric called Babble. Meeting Place and Babble, kind of funny. The right block is A-1 Pinwheel Gone Awry.

I had this last bit of pink to finish up. 25 nine patches to put with all the other nine patches.

Here is my box of yellow scraps. It is one of my smaller boxes but I still have lots to work with.

I have a far bit of yellow to do this month, so here is a list.
  • Tulips
  • Bee block
  • Apple cores
  • 9 Sampler blocks
  • Dear Jane blocks and triangles
  • Wild and Goosey blocks
  • Flower block
  • And I can always work on getting any rainbow quilt top done or quilted too
I really must get a quilt top or 2 done soon. The 2 quilt guilds I belong to have quilt shows later this year. I have not finished anything new for a while.

I have my Pineapple log cabin blocks out today. I am very close to being done the next set of 27 blocks. Why 27 you may ask, well it turns out I can get 27 units of 1 strip of the red fabric I use in the center.

I have added today's post to Soscrappy's Linky Page for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2015.

Pink Saturday

I have four more Pink Dear Jane blocks done. I have been making my Dear Jane with the Kaffe Fassett Collection. I just love the pink Pencil fabric, it is kind of a stripe but is not but it adds movement.

I have a page for my Dear Jane blocks. I have all the colours planned out and mark them down as I complete them. Dear Jane Page

I also did B-4 in the blue, it is called Chris's soccer field. I was just at my son's soccer game Friday night, but his name is not Chris.  I am apart of Jane Stickle face book group and the feature block was B-4 this week. I must ask, Do you see this as Black and Blue or is it Gold and White?
I think next week is B-5 that I have done already in purple. That might be the the March colour? Maybe.

I had done some tulip tops but then did not get the leave and stem done. Well, this week I completed them. 12 pretty little pink tulips.

I kept going and got the Blue tulips done too. There happens to be 14 blue ones.

I have added this post to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2015 Socrappy's link page.

I am taking the Puppy Gemma to her first fun trial. Wish me luck, she maybe wild today.
Edit up date - Gemma did great, so much fun! but on the way home I was rear ended. Van has a boo boo, fixable and we are not hurt.

Blue scraps

I got a few more nine patches done in January.

I also did some wild geese blocks. The first one I did was multicoloured. But then I did a few in just blue. I love these ones. I guess I am stating a new block for the Rainbow scrap challenge 2015. I may need a few more Blue ones.

I have added this to Soscrappy's linky party.

The month of February is Pink. I have done all kinds of sorting out my Dear Jane. I have all the fabric picked out for Pink. So now to get to them. I hope to get one block done today.

Sorry it took me so long to post I miss placed my camera. Not really lost, I just did not know where I left it.

January Blues

Blue scraps for January sounds about right. Christmas is done and we are back to the same old same cold. We have had a cold week. Some snow and some bad roads. Blue and icy all around. I also kind of slid into the ditch today. Me and my van are fine, thanks to the nice man who towed me out.

Last year I got doing the 6" sampler blocks. At first I used what ever lights. Then I got using lights that were the right colour of the month. I did not like the 4 blocks on the right. So this week I remade the 4 blocks on the left to make up my 9 sampler blocks.

Here is the 9 blocks. I have added this to Socrappy's Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2015. There the blue blocks are all fixed up. I have many other blocks to do in many other colours so the sampler will be at least a 2 year project.

Today I worked on these little Lime Green Dear Jane blocks.

As this is my first post of the year, I feel this need to tell you all what I have planned to do for the next year. Both the quilt guild I belong to have quilt shows this year so I need to do some finishing. So here it is
  1. I work on the RSC 2015  (Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2015) I may find I need to finish a few quilts and not start new blocks. So I will plan to work on a quilt that has some of the months colour. So maybe some blocks but I must finish more. I have too many to list today.
  2. I will keep making Dear Jane blocks with Kaffet Fasset fabrics.
  3. I will keep working on my Hexagons using the  Kaffet Fasset fabrics
  4. I have a quilt to finish that is a joint quilt with my mom. We need to finish it.
  5. I hope to finish the log cabin quilt with Kaffet Fassets that was part of a block exchange.
  6. I have some blocks from the Leduc Guild tin box exchange I hope to do a table runner with.
  7. I have a Scrap Garden challenge to do for the Leduc Guild past president challenge. I think I have all the blocks done.
  8. Maybe I should get at least 1 or 2 of the Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilts done. Easy Street is a top waiting to be quilted, 3 others in block form need to be made into tops then quilted.
  9. and more.
Happy New Year to you all.

Lime Jane Blocks

I have a few Dear Jane blocks ready to sew by hand. These two blocks had some machine piecing and some applique. I had plans to work on these while watching TV tonight. The Good Wife is on.

This one got done right away. I just could not stop myself. I had this block almost done and then made a cutting error, so I had to re do the applique.  Done

These two block got done earlier in the week at the Leduc UFO day. I got one done before lunch and one after lunch.  I took the photos today on my new cutting mat. It was my Birthday Yesterday and my quilt angle mother gave me a new large cutting mat. It is so nice to have a new mat.

I am adding this post to Kathy's slow stitching link page.

Sewing Season is Back

I did do some patchwork over the past 5 weeks but was just too busy to show it here. I have 4 pretty little red sampler blocks. I got them done the last week of July.

Next up is the string triangles. I have no idea how I will use these but they are added to the rainbow stash of blocks.

Here is all the red I did back in July for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I love these shots as it show I did get so much done in one month.

I have also sent some time working on my Dear Jane blocks again. Aug was light Green so I worked at planning out my green fabrics and blocks.

Here are the blocks I got done in green so far. I have a another handful started but not done yet. I see Sept is Orange. I have added my post to Soscrappy with Saturday fall brights

We had a great holiday, spending the last weeks in British Columbia. We drove and spent all our time with the dogs and staying in hotels. We had all our nights booked so we knew the dogs were welcome were we stayed.

Here is Gemma and I at Lake Louise. She wanted to play in the water so badly.

Design Wall Monday June 2nd

May was the month of Green scraps. I thought on the weekend I would fill my wall with all the Green blocks I have done this year and last year. I am very late but I will add this to the Scrap Saturday over at Soscrappy and today being Monday Design Wall Monday with Judy.

I got this green free form piece last week but had not downloaded my photos till today. It started out as two Fat Quarters of green. Part way into re piecing it  I thought it needed more interest. So I added the Bright flower like squares. I think of this as spring.

I got a few more Dear Jane Rainbow blocks done. Some purple ones are still needed and then the first few lime and green ones.

This little green block is total hand pieced. It is all Y seams so I thought I would try hand piecing and I am very happy with how it turned out.

This is part of my colour plan for my Dear Jane. I have cut out a 1 1/2" square of each fabric I use to show the colour of each block. This way I will not have same fabric to close to each other. This Dear Jane is going to be very well documented.

Gemma my 6 month old Lab puppy went for her first swim yesterday. She had so much fun.

It has been a while since I post photos of her. She is getting big and getting into more trouble.

Purple Dear Jane

I have 7 more Dear Jane Blocks done. I am hoping to use the Kaffe Fassett collection for all the blocks and do a rainbow around the quilt. I will plan to keep the blocks in the order they are in the book.

The blocks are mostly pieced and some applique. I hope to get another little bundle of blocks done soon. I have been making little kits of work, pick out the fabric used and I always have to do some tracing on to freezer paper, either Paper piecing or hand applique templates.

Sunday Hand Stitching

I have been back to my Dear Jane blocks. I got a little hand applique done this week and completed three Purple blocks.
Top left is B9 - Tinker Toy
Bottom left is E2 - Merry May
Right D3 - Jason's Jacks

I have four other blocks partly done and needing some hand stitching. I will soon have half the purple blocks done. It will look like a good start to a quilt.

I have added this post to Kathy's Slow Stitching Sunday. She was talking about what she watches or listens to well stitching. I have a few different tastes. I will watch Game of Throwns then Mad Men tonight and stitch. I sometimes watch CBC new channel or I listen to very bouncy and loud radio that is kind like dance pop or old hard Rock.   But I also love super quite and no TV or noise on.

I bought a little spring colour the other day. I had one last year and it lasted for months so thought it was a good deal. Now to just make sure it gets enough water. I do better with low water plants.

Purple Saturday

I got some more purple scraps sewn this week. I really really needed the purple coin strips done. I had almost every colour done but not purple.  I just missed doing the purple last year. These are 6 1/2" wide and 18 1/2" long.

I took my photos late tonight in the darker room and without my design wall. Sorry my photos are not better. I hope next week I can use my wall and show off all the purple at one time. We had company and I am trying to machine quilt the last few quilts to end my month. Not enough time in my life.

My 8" spool block and the left over pin wheel block.

These are to be my 6" sampler blocks. Opps something is not like the other. The Friendship star is 6" but the other block is 8" wrong. I will have to redo it. I guess this block will end up as an extra.

I have a few purple Dear Jane blocks done using my Kaffe Fasset Fabrics.
Top Left is A8 - Florence Nightingale
Top right  is C10 - Patriot's Lantern
Bottom Left is I2 - Kay's Courtyard
Bottom Right is C4 Tic Tac Toe

I have added Saturday's post to Soscrappy as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014.

My only photo of Gemma this week. She still can sleep on the foot stool. Maybe not for long. She is getting big.

Easter Weekend Scraps

Purple is the colour this month in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014. Perfect for Easter. I finally got started on the purple scraps. On Good Friday, I was able to cut and prepare some scraps for the 6" sampler blocks. Then I was able to sew them into blocks on Saturday morning before we left for family fun. I ran out of time to post photos till today.

So I have been working with my Kaffe Fasset fabrics for the block exchanges, I have been making some scraps. So I was able to make this block.

Then I also did a Uncle Homer block for my Dear Jane. Yes I am going to try and work on the Dear Jane again. At the rate I am going I will need to live to be 100 to finish. Maybe I can get going a little faster again.

Some hand dyed purple scraps.

I did some string sewing with the purple hand dyed fabrics.

With my Husband's help I have been repainting and putting a rubber covering on my Agility Teeter Totter. We did the Blue center area on Friday and let it set.

Then today we came back and did the yellow contact area. This is the part the dog is to step in to be safe. We need to let the rubber set for a week before we can play on it.

Gemma is learning to play in the water. This is part of the flooded pasture and very cold still.

Happy Easter
