All the Turquoise

I love doing the end of the month wall of all that colour scrappyness. So much Turquoise got done and put in to quilt blocks. I love them all. I have so much turquoise and I have used it in many quilts lately so I have scraps to use up.

The past 2 weeks, I got 5 blocks done for Talking Turkey and quilt pattern of Bonnie Hunter's that is in her String Fling book. I love that book so many good quilts to work on. I have started the pink and yellow blocks from the past months. These take lot of time so it is slow going.

Pinwheels 16 got done. I am sure I will make a baby quilt using these or some of these.

Poverty Piecing (also called crumb blocks). I used some of the tiniest triangles form some kind of cut off triangle unit.

I got 16 6" blocks done.

I have added this to Soscrappy's link.

Not on the wall, but I got a group of 2 1/2" triangles done. I have many ideas with Triangles so I am sure they will find a home.

So I did not really get all my pink done in May and put away. I had a stack of wacky pink pieces, so Poverty piecing had to get done.

Turquoise Scrap Blocks

I have been working my way through my Turquoise Scrap Box. I take most of a week to sort and cut my many smaller bits of fabric. These blocks have taken me 2 weeks as I did not have many to show last week.

I have been cutting strips out of the funny sized fabrics. Most are already strip left over from past projects. Some are mangled fat quarters that are need ironing and squaring up.
Once I have strips I cut squares. This year I am cutting 3", 2 1/2, and 2" squares. They seam to be what I use the most.

Strips are 3", 2 1/2", 2" and 1 1/2" I had many of the 1 1/2" left over from 2 projects I did this past year.

My sampler blocks in 10" and in 7 1/2" sizes.

Hexagon flowers. I use the 2" squares and the 3/4" papers for these.

I worked hard this Saturday morning and got my 6 migrated Geese blocks done just in time to show off. I love these blocks. If I keep making 6 per colour I might end up with enough for 2 quilts. I might be over doing it.

I have added this post to Soscrappy. She had to get her husband to make her link post as she is out of town.

The last of my pink sampler blocks. Can you see the oops? there is kind of 2 oops blocks. I guess I had better fix at least the far left bottom triangle so it matches the other 3 corners.

2nd Time Around

In 2013 as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I made this wall quilt, Around About. I used the first few colours of the year and used some scraps to play. Each month a new colour was used. So Jan pink, Feb purple, March orange, and then green. When I got this far it felt done, but I was not sure so it sat. I got it quilted in time to have it in a quilt show the fall of 2015. I have this quilt listed as For Sale in my Art Quilts for Sale Page.

While this year Turquoise started the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017. I started a bit late but here is a start to a 2nd Time Around. I am hoping to use hand dyed fabric, solids and a few solid like batik fabrics. This way the piecing will show off more then if I used prints. Some of my scraps are cut nicely and some not so much. I will allow it to get a little wonky and try not to use a ruler to square up. Sometimes I just wack off a tail with my scissors.

I work this on the design wall lots. I play with bits of fabric to see if it the next fit. February the colour is Purple so I have started to add a hint of purple.

Ruby Red Scrap Saturday

Ruby Red Scrap Saturday it is. I worked on my nine patches. They are 3" when finished. I had done some red before but not many. So I got more Red done.

I have add this post the to the linky party at Soscrappy. I am gone to another agility trial with my lab Gemma.

Last week I had started the purple ones from our January colour. I did not have any done till now. I have 50 now.

A close up

I also got started on the teal ones last week but did not get them finished till just a few days ago.

Have you done a bunch of nine patches? what did you make? What might you make? I have not made a plan for my nine patches. I just like making them.

Teal Scrappy Saturday

I got a little bit done this week on the Teal scraps. I have started some nine patches but they are not finished yet. I might have to show them off next week.

My larger spool is 8" square and the pin wheel is the extra bits.

I have added this post to So Scrappy today.

I have a full day at a dog agility trial then Garth Brooks.

Flying geese, I just love these little guys yet I am not sure how I will use them. I have a pretty good drawer of geese. All main colours are done but no Black, brown or grey ones yet. Not sure I will do more. Unless maybe I  need some with a neutral background? Just might have to think on that idea.

Scrap Saturday - Teal and Aqua

I got this much Scrappy goodness done today.
My slab blocks are being made for the Big Canadian Quilt Bee run by CQA, I am working on more blocks for a 3rd and maybe a 4th quilt that will go to sick kids at Ronald McDonald House in Canada.

I got 5 Canadian Slab blocks done with my teal and aqua scraps. I love this colour. Maybe because it is like the ocean or some of our mountain lakes.

The slab blocks all have at least one Canadian print in them. I got this teal print with Red Maples leaves just for these blocks. I think I will use some in my blue blocks too. Love it.

Also in Teal and aqua is spool blocks. The spool blocks are 3 1/2" unfinished. I got the pattern from Bonnie Hunter were you can find the link to her page. It was one of her leaders and ender challenges.  I started spool blocks years ago, but I got some new scraps and there were many teal prints.

Here is the bag of new to me scraps. One of my quilting customers was willing to part with a bag of scraps for me. I have been doing quilts for her for years ( more then 12 yrs). It is kind of cool to get this bag as I quilted all the quilts she made and now I can treasure and use the scraps.

I also got another 6 pink slab blocks done too.

Last week, I got this crazy pink pony print at the rummage bin at the local quilt shop. I just love it. I was too old for magic ponies when they came out but my cousin that is 15 years younger then me had them.

Teal and Aqua Scrap Saturday

It is the last Saturday of March, were did the month go. We still have so much winter here. We got snow a few times this week and it is not melting out in the country yet. Maybe by Monday it will be warm enough to melt some.

I got a few blue and teal nine patches done. They are not very big but fun to just plug away at doing.

Next I got done a blue spool block. The little pinwheel is from the bonus triangles I cut off.

Here are 6 sampler blocks. They are all 6 inches and so cute.

54-40 or Fight block

New York Beauty done with a little paper piecing and curves.

Scrap Saturday Teals

I got some 6" sampler blocks done in the Teal and Aqua, this month's colour. I keep working on the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014. I am not crazy for the top center block. I did not get enough contrast but I guess in a sampler, no one will notice the one little block.

I also did a teal spool but I did a mistake. I made it too tall. The pink one is 8" sq and the teal one is 10" tall. Oops. I think I will just have to work around it. Not sure what I will make with these blocks.

I also got a few pink sampler blocks done. Sorry I just had trouble putting the pink away after last month.

Puppy is a little knotty. She has been bring the bath mat to the dog bed. Still Cute!

Rainbow Scraps on Friday

I have had a very busy month and keep getting too busy on Saturday to post. SO here is last week Teals and Aquas early for Saturday. My boys have been in a few indoor soccer matches. Last week end we had 6 games in 2 days. Two kids on two different teams, in different parts of town. They did great. Some team bests and some individual bests too.
Now on to my quilting
I got a few tulip heads done. One last pink one and 14 blue ones.

I have a teal aqua block done for my lanterns. I had to use the crazy little mushroom fabric. Love it.

Look out for Soscrappy on Saturday. I hope to have another post for Saturday, I have been doing the sewing.

Some puppy cuteness for you.
