Customers Quilting

I love how the quilting worked out on this quilt. I knew what I wanted to do on this quilt as soon as I saw it. It belongs to one of my customers and he liked my idea. He was also very happy to see it when it was done.

Here is a photos of more of the quilt hanging off the rails.

This is another one I quilted for the same customer. Moose. I outlined the moose and did the back ground area.

Thank you customers for trusting your quilts with me. I love my job.

Quilting a Judy Pattern

I have a good customer in Northern Canada that brings me her big beauties for machine quilting. Her name is Elaine Coumont. I got to do this Judy Niemeyer Mariner's Compass quilt. It was done mostly in batiks which is always a treat to work on.
The photo of the over all was not great as every time I went to take a photo the sun was shinning
in and giving it hot spots.

Some more detail shots.

Here is the middle of the star.

I did lots of wiggle quilting and did a ton of thread changes. Elaine was thriller with the work I did on her quilt. Thank You Elaine for trusting me with the work.

Log Cabin Fun

Today I get to show you a beautiful Log Cabin quilt that was inspired by me. One of my customers was in my studio when I had my log cabin blocks up on the wall, a few months ago. I told him about the Kaffet Fasset collection of fabric and the exchange I was doing. While he bought a large stash of fabric and got started on this quilt. He finished his quilt nice and quickly. He is working on the binding to finish it this week. He was planning to donate it to a charity as a fund raiser and it needs to be done before the weekend.
The sun was shining in and making odd hot spots. I wish it showed off a little better.

The two sides of the block have different size logs so that it is a curve.

Here is the back of the quilt. I used dark blue thread and it shows up on the back of the quilt.

Here is my design wall that had inspired my customer. The blocks were apart of a block exchange I did earlier this year. I still have plans to make more blocks. Maybe I should take this project to retreat with me. Who know maybe I could get it done.

Summer Quilting

I have had a very busy week. We have done some fun stuff with the kids but I am trying to keep up with doing some work on customers quilts also. I love Batik fabrics and this quilt was all batiks. So much fun to work with.

My customer loves turquoise and so do I. We of course chose turquoise thread to quilt with.

You can see the machine quilting better here. My customer picked it up last night and love the spirals I did on her quilt. I think it is a gift for someone special.

I have no patchwork of mine to show you this week. I do not think I have done any of my own quilting. Too hot to turn on the iron this past week. We just cooled off with a morning shower. Maybe I will sew later today.

Scrap Quilt

Love the scrap quilts. This is another customers quilt that I was asked to quilt. It is so much fun to look at all the different fabrics used. I have some of these fabrics. I love how much lime green is in this quilt.

She saw my leaves and loops quilting pattern and asked me to do that quilting on hers. I think she was very happy with it.

So nice to give the completed (or almost completed) quilts back to customers.

More flowers in my garden. This white rose is very smelly.

Today my Surface Design Group is off to go shopping for some wool and lunch. We are also going to start to gather plant for some natural dying. We may have to stop on the road sides to gather our weeds. Later this summer and early fall we hope to try natural dying.

Great Customers

I have a few more quilts I have done for my customers that I need to show off. One friend worked last summer do the machine applique on this quilt then left it with me to quilt well she was down south for the winter. So this was done a while back I just forgot to make a post about it.  I just love her work.

Every part of this quilt was so well done. It ways makes my work easy to work on her work.

This side view shows off the quilting a bit better.

I still have so room to do more machine quilting this summer. So if you need a top quilted just let me know.

I have many flowers blooming in my garden. I took a quick photo of my large rocks and wagon wheel. I have a white rose flowering in the back there. It is so smelly. To do not for get to stop and smell the roses today.

Sea Life Quilt

This past month I have had a few very large and wonderful quilts to do. This is one of them. My customer had bought this yardage and hated to cut it up so made it the center panel and then used blocks around the outside. It was a great way to show off the sea print.

I quilted most of the quilt with sea weed looking lines but then in some of the teal fabric I hide sea animals and shells. Can you see the sea horse.

This shot has a shell in it. She said it was like Where is Waldo.
My husband also spotted it and told me he really liked it. He never comments on the quilts I work on.

David's Green Quilt

I was asked to do the machine quilting on this beauty. My customer David has brought me many quilts over the years. They are always bright and fun to work on. I love Lime Green so this was fun to work on.

The quilt is going to Quebec and David wanted the center be quilted with some special stitches. So this is what we did. It was a quilt that I did the parts I knew and then let the quilt tell me how I should do the next part. I thought Lime green thread will show off more. So I stated with the main images. Then I still wanted it to show and changed thread to cream, and did the little bubbles fill in quilting. I did not plan it use cream but it was what was needed. David is so good to let me decide these things. He loved  the quilting, Happy Customer makes me happy.

Here is a detail photo of the outer boarders. I love how the lime green thread shows off on the white and not so much on the other fabrics.

Just  note to the other customers out there. I have not been too busy this spring. I am booking quilts for June and can book in your quilts for later this summer too. I had that little panic that I may have to do some other kind of work. I said this one of my customers and she called her friends, They have brought me 4 quilts this week. So cool. If you hate to wait for your quilts this is the time of year to get them in. THANK YOU my customers I love my work.

Log Cabin Quilting

I got to do the machine quilting on this beauty. I just love this quilt. The logs are so thin and so many seams, it was a heavy top. My customer asked me to do some echo quilting on the little homes but then she wanted something more over all on the rest.

You can see some of the curved lines here.

Can you believe it, she is giving this quilt away. I hope they love it.

The all over shot, just as I am unpinning the quilt from the frame. It is so nice to get them done.

Tuesday was always a bee group day. For years I quilted with my mom and some of our friends. Most of the ladies are not around for the winter months. Darn snow birds. While I still quilt on Tuesdays but it is often work doing my customers machine quilting. This is a customers star quilt all with batik fabrics. I just had to show you what I did. She was very happy with it.

This is a shot of the backside of the quilt. You can see what I did on the star blocks. I wanted to be sure I had a photos of this. I want to remember what I did for the star.

Quilting More

I have been busy quilting for customers still. I got done all the Christmas present quilts done. This was one of them from a little while back. I still have lots to do this week and I am not felling so good. I have that Pre Christmas cold. I hope I am over it by next week.

I hope to get more photos soon. We have so little natural light this time of year. I have not done lots of sewing, Just bits here and there.

Here is my husband on his horse Socks. We have so much more snow now. I bet the snow would be at his knees now. We also have a good layer of ice on the top of the snow so it is not nice to go riding. They are both so cute.

Saturday Browns

We are so White around here. We have had tons of snow fall.
I got a bit of brown sewn together and then worked at the the Black and White fabrics too.
This is all I got done for the real RSC2013 projects.

I have been sewing mostly on my older singer. What a great work horse. These scraps have been helping me with the next new project.

I have been cutting brown strips. I have been a little distracted and not just using scraps.

Log cabins. I just love them. It is keeping me out of trouble well I wait for the next Bonnie Hunter mystery to get started. Funny how just before the mystery starts I just want to sew so badly. I get tons done on some other project before hand.

This is a great brown quilt I got quilted for a customer this week. So much brown this week.

As this month the colour for the RSC2013 is Brown you get to see my Brown Dog Lex. I just love this photo taken by Darcy Evens at the Dock Dogs event this past Aug. My T-Rex Dog.

There is more scrappy Browns over at Socrappy.

Appliqué Finished

I got the machine quilting done on this big appliqué quilt for a customer. I just love this quilt. I helped her track down a few of the monthly patterns. It is a pattern from Quilter's Newsletter magazine. You get the patterns over a few months and she was missing some.

I love the bright colours she has used. I used stippling in the background and curved echoing on the baskets. I also did some echoing around the appliqué.

I kind of laughed when one young family member was saying she had to work the next 16 days in a row. As a long arm quilting working at home I find myself working very hard over Oct, Nov and the first few weeks of Dec. I thought 16 days? Well I took 5 days off at the beginning of the month and one day for a dog trial but then the rest of the month is work. I am in for 18 days in a row, then I get one day off again. Not complaining I love to work at home.  Well back to work I go.
