Summer busy
What have I been doing. Well not a ton of sewing is getting done, maybe a little bit.
The knitting bag was in great need. I keep on knitting socks and wanted a cute bag with this fabric. Love the little horse zipper tag I fuzzy cut out. The yarn is my Purple Pansy yarn I dyed back in April.
The Purple Pansy Socks are now done and ready to show off. I am very happy with them. I think I have enough yarn left to do a short pair also.
Another knitting bag was made with my camper fabric. The yarn is some watermelon yarn I dyed in May. The socks are now started and being worked on. I have the first sock done and the second one is just ready to work the heal decrease and then the foot and toe. Soon to be done.
These short socks are now done too. I finished them as we drove home from camping in June. The yarns are also yarns that I dyed this spring.
Dyed yarn to show off what I might knit up this summer. A few are hand dyed yarns I bought from a local yarn dyer, Rose Hill Yarns. So far I just love to buy her stuff. I can pick it up just on the other side of Leduc.
My beast Dolly, she and I have been doing lots of agility training this summer. It has been hard to get in training in this hot weather. This is after a water break on evening.

Quilts for Boys
My Mom, Betty, and I often work on quilts together. These two where done by both of us. My mom did the patchwork and I did the machine quilting. I wanted to give my sister in laws two boys a quilt each. I had given them a baby quilt each but no new ones for years. You can see they are way to big now for baby quilts. They needed small man size at least.
This quilt I had an Oiler fabric (Edmonton's Hockey team) on part of the backing so we did make it more orange and blue. Both boys love hockey and their dad is a hockey nut. Some winter's dad has build a ring in their back yard.
Both quilts were done in time for the birthdays they had in Aug 2020. I am behind showing of stuff from last year when I hardly wrote on my blog.
Dog friends - I have not gone to the herding breed yet, the cattle dog is their dog.

Gone to the dogs
Where on the world have I been? I got a puppy in May and find myself with a little less time to quilt or blog about it. I have finished a bunch of stuff but not take photos. Sorry!
Also just came back from Hawaii.
Today I got out Bonnie's Mystery quilt stuff. I started step 1 before I left but did not get step one done. So maybe this month I will work on it.

Happy New Year!
I have been looking back at 2018 and thinking about the new year 2019.
Good Fortune is a good start to the new year!
My mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter this year is Good Fortune. I have been working on a slower pace this year and yet I am all caught up with Friday's last clue 6. I think I just have to iron and count clue 3 the little green triangles. I should have enough. You can see I have pink added in, it is my replacement to the Orange.
Clue 6 the neutral strings, done and counted.
I have linked up to Bonnie's Link up Monday.
Yesterday, I was at a friends house doing a painting class. Paint your pet! So much fun. The black purple puppy I did back in May, my Gemma. Yesterday, I painted Lex, the Brown Chesapeake Bay. He is no longer with us but in memory.
I think it turned out Great. I think I showed of his personality perfectly.
My husband wants to hang up this one for sure.
Lex playing at Dock Diving.
Looking back at mine and Gemma's Agility year, I could not be happier with our team. We had a great year even with missing out the first few months to heal a toe. We took out all our title ribbons but 2 more are missing. We got some big titles this year. Hoping our 2019 can be just as much fun.

Gemma Painted
I painted my puppy Gemma. My friend Kathy had a paint night at her house Saturday. It was a fund raiser for a dog club. It was so much fun. I picked this sweet photo of Gemma when she was about 12 weeks old.
I am so happy how it turned out. My Purple Pup.
I might have to do more painting of some of my other dogs gone.

Christmas Cookies
Well I spend a second day decorating cookies. I did not get all of them done but now I have an impressive collection to add to the plate. I just love the Santa faces done out of a cupcake cutter.
The mittens and light bulbs were some of the faster cookies to do.
There is the snowmen and a few dog faces.
More snow men and light bulbs.
I only cut out 4 of these dogs. I will have to do more of them another time. I love the black lab wrapped up in the lights. The green face is to be the Grinch.
Only one little car cut out but it is so cute. Also love the snowflakes, they are also kind of quick to do and are less sweet.
Later this week I will get back to sewing. I have some gifts to finish. I also started a Bionic Gear Bag, wow lots of videos to watch and to figure that out. I get more done and show that this week.

Dog Beds
I have had some fabric donated to me and thought one of the best uses would be dog beds. A few years back the Edmonton Quilters guild donated some to the Edmonton Humane Society. I got 4 done in total so far. The Red and green fabric was pre-quilted fabric. A friend thought I might be able to use it. I said sure dog beds. The cream fabric is from Quincy's Quilting in Leduc. They donate fabric to us quilters to make charity projects. Dog beds is one of the causes. I know the Edmonton Humane Society wanted all beds to be wash able and that they would dry quick, so not thick. Some are used on dog table type beds to add a little more softens to them.

Agility Nationals
I have not been quilting much, too busy with agility. Last weekend Gemma and I were at the AAC National Agility Championships in Langley BC at Thunderbird Show Park. It was the first time I have qualified so I thought we better go. My Husband and one son came with me.
My Son took the photos of me and also videoed 5 out of 6 runs for us too. We did well on Saturday with 201 points but on Sunday my brain did not do well. The first course of the day I walked my course incorrect once out of about 12 walks and then on the real run I forgot for .5 of a second and my Gemma took an extra jump. It kind of went down hill from there. I guess my Gamble at the end was OK. We were in the toughest group possible, some 80 plus dogs. Were a 10th of a second decides the placement and if I had been clean I might have placed 24th or so. I am not too fast but my dog can be.
We did have lots of fun. We saw lots of fast dogs and some great moves and skills they had.
Gemma is on the left and her relative, Mystic is on the right. It was the first time for both girls.
The grounds and the flowers were so pretty at Thunderbird. I love these colours.

Agility Weekend
I had a big weekend of agility. My black lab and I competed in the Alberta/NWT Regional Dog Agility Championships. Well we had a great weekend. She was so good and we both did so well. I was blown away as to how good. We got a 2nd place and a 10th in classes of 56 dogs. We had some great rounds. We got to a steeplechase final which is a speed class. I never thought we could do so well.
We also qualified to go to National Championships! I have booked to go now.
Sorry no quilting, next time I promise.

Mini Felted Dog
A good start to my mini Gemma, still need eyes and a nose, maybe a toy in her month. |
On Saturday I spend the day making a little black Lab and pricked my fingers a few times. I got invited to a dog friend's house to make little felted animals. We made them by needle felting so I pricked my fingers a few times. Most of us worked on making our dogs. Many of the people were agility friends so we are mostly dog people.
Next to me was a Grey Cat that got worked on. His ears were frozen so in real life he had small ears.
I almost forgot the 2 ferret that were make.
Some details being added to the face.
One of the real dogs!
This was my Gemma, I used this photo and a few other to work on her shape.
We had a very good day. Thank You Kathy for the fun and good food.

Follow Kaffe Fassett
I have my 6th Finished top this year! Must be a record for me.
I have to quilt more of them now.
If you have looked at my blog much the past few years, I keep working on quilts that use Kaffe Fassett Collection. I love most all of his fabric. It is bright and bold and I love how true the colours are. It goes well with my hand dyed fabric and solids and batiks. I started this summer
The quit is long and narrow so I wanted to show it off the other way too. One row is hiding so I will stay on the fence.
Today my black lab helpers. I am dogs sitting for a friend so I have a matched pair of black lab girls. They are loving the warm melting tempters. It was very wet today but I still got my photos done.
I have added this post to Crazy Mom Quilts, and Confessions of a Fabric Addict
When I have the quilting and binding done I think I will add this quilt to the for sale page.

Happy Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day
I have done more pieced Hexagons. These two hearts were done with a free Pattern I found from Katja on her Hexagon Quilt a long face book page.
I have had a great weekend. First on Saturday I took Gemma to a Fun agility trial. We had fun playing and visiting with our friends. Then in the evening I had a fundraiser casino to go to.
Look what I won. The grand Prize a new Iphone. Crazy lucky me.
Today I did a bit of work, made cookies and hung out. Now to have a great supper.

Dog Collars and Leashes
So I am a little crazy and have started working on something new. Leather works. I have always thought it would be fun to make and sew leather, but the sewing leather part needs a new sewing machine. A very big investment. So I have been looking into smaller projects. I have a black leash that has no sewing but some kind of twisted knots. I wanted to make one or two!
I have been playing with my leather bits and parts. Staining and punching holes in my leather.
This collar is for Gemma. I have her name stamped on it and my # in case she got lost. It is a little heavy so I am not sure I will make her wear it every day. Maybe for a special show. I took 5 photos of Gemma wearing it but they are crappy. One photos did not even show the collar at all.
This pretty set, collar and leash, I have given away. It is being used as for a fund raising for one of my agility teachers, a member of the Canadian AAC agility team going to IFCS later this year. I think I will be making a second set for myself.

Pizza Box Blocks
The Leduc Guild or Black Gold Quit Patch Guild is still working on our Pizza Box blocks. I got 2 more done since the last time I posted about the pizza boxes. This block had a Harvest theme to it. I thought it should also a few Farm animals. So I fussy cut out some animals and did the Log cabin court house steps thing around. Her box had the Green harvest fabric in it.
I also got this block done. I do not know if this block has a real name or not. I think of it as 4 patches doubled. She had most of these fabrics in her box.
I have also been working on Bonnie Hunter's Mystery quilt. I have most but not all units together. I am just starting to put a few blocks together. I took a photo but I have misplaced my camera. Maybe in a few days I can show you my blocks. I am not rushing it if you can see. This project would be great to take to retreat all in one little box. I should get a little more done before that. I have an idea for the boarder but need to get more done to be sure.
Gemma did some X boxing over the holidays.
