Summer busy

What have I been doing. Well not a ton of sewing is getting done, maybe a little bit.
The knitting bag was in great need. I keep on knitting socks and wanted a cute bag with this fabric. Love the little horse zipper tag I fuzzy cut out. The yarn is my Purple Pansy yarn I dyed back in April.
The Purple Pansy Socks are now done and ready to show off. I am very happy with them. I think I have enough yarn left to do a short pair also.
Another knitting bag was made with my camper fabric. The yarn is some watermelon yarn I dyed in May. The socks are now started and being worked on. I have the first sock done and the second one is just ready to work the heal decrease and then the foot and toe. Soon to be done.
These short socks are now done too. I finished them as we drove home from camping in June. The yarns are also yarns that I dyed this spring.
Dyed yarn to show off what I might knit up this summer. A few are hand dyed yarns I bought from a local yarn dyer, Rose Hill Yarns. So far I just love to buy her stuff. I can pick it up just on the other side of Leduc.
My beast Dolly, she and I have been doing lots of agility training this summer. It has been hard to get in training in this hot weather. This is after a water break on evening.

MoJo Bag Show Off

I got to show off my Mojo bags today live on facebook today, with Sally.

My Mojo bags I have made using the Sew Like a Rock Star pattern. All 3 bags are from the original size but just taller. Bright red and yellow bag was with a exact size and uses the 2 by 8 frame size. Then I made the purple flower bag a little taller. Again the 2 by 8 frame was used. The tall indigo bag was also the 2 by 8 frame and the same width but I just started with taller fabric. To see more photos of the Indigo bag go check out the link.

Here is a better close up of the hand stitching I did on this bag. The patches were basted down to a muslin foundation and then I hand stitched using number 30 DMC crochet cotton.

I added leather handles by using Chicago screws and I did it before I sewed up inside bottom seam.

Indigo Hand Bag

For A Friday Finish I have completed my Indigo Hand Bag. I just love it.
It goes so well with my new Spring Jacket

I used the basic MoJo Pattern from Sew Like a Rock Star. I made the same width as the pattern but made this one taller 13".

Shibori indigo hand dyed fabric was used on the inside. With the metal frame in place, the bag opens up so nice a wide.

I have added pockets on both sides.

You can see the hand stitching I did on the close up shot. Made a post about the hand stitching Here and picking out my fabric back Here

One half with the handles before I started the bag assembly.
I used Chicago screws to attach the leather hands. You can also see the bottom of the bag is reused jean fabric.

Here is the back side of the out fabric, you can see I also added a small rectangle of thicker interfacing to add more firmness to the handle area. The screws are 1/4" but needed something more to feel right.

The bag just before I placed the
metal frame inside. Not a bad looking bag but it is so much nicer with the metal frame inside.

The cute Red print with flowers was used for my zipper tabs.

The other side. On Sew Like a Rock Star, Sally has the best ever video of how to do the zipper tabs. How to fussy cut and sew this just perfect. I do not think I will ever mess these up and they are just a great detail.

Bionic MoJo Bags

Happy Valentines week!
I finished this cute bag up in time to give to an Agility friend.
Can you guess her favorite Breed of Dog?
Dalmatian of course.
We had lunch together on Wednesday, so I also put a little tin of homemade Chocolate Fudge inside for her.

I think the zipper tab on the end looks like her male, Merlin.

This zipper end looks a little like her young female, Joya.

I had Dalmatian spots for the inside of the bag. It was just prefect.

This Mojo Bag uses a Kaffe Fassett collection fabric by Phillip Jacob. I love these large flowers print in the right place. This bag a taller then the others I have made. I will be keeping this bag for myself. Just not sure if I will use it in the sewing room or maybe in my bathroom. I could use a new travel bag.

Both these bags have a small metal frame inside. They keep their shape nicely and open up and stay open when the zipper is fully opened. I added a inside zipper pocket to this one.

If you want to learn more about the Bionic MoJo bags you can go check out Sew Like a Rock Star. You can be a free member to see a few free videos she has. Or join and buy a pattern or a membership. I bought a membership for the year and also bought the Bionic Gear Bag pattern and hope to work on another one this weekend. I have the fabric picked out.

I got a gift this past week. My other agility friend has taken up more sewing and quilting. She made me a Ice-cream Sunday pincushion. The bottom of the bowl can store you thimble and thread too. So cute. Thanks
