Summer Socks

Sock pair #10 for the year finished!
#9 start and finish for 2021!
I got these done in time for the spring weather. But where is the warm weather. I love this dyed yarn I dyed in early April. I was thinking about beach and cool waters but also the touch of lime. The free pattern is from Ravelry Rose City Rollers but then I changed so many things.  I wanted to know how to get the roll at the top. Well it is just knit, I used my reinforced heal that I have been doing. Also I tried Eye of  Partridge on the bottom the feet as I get hole there every time. Then I finished it off with my favorite toes.  So not sure I followed the pattern much.  Very happy with the socks and I have enough to do a second pair. Maybe I will but add something like a different colour heal or toes.

Up next was a big sock repair. The ankle of these socks are what is left of my 1st pair of socks I knitted 18 years ago. I had repaired the foot, toes and heals a few different times. It was time to say good bye. So I reknit from the heal down with new yarn that was at least a good colour match. Pretty good repair. But so cold I have to wear these winter like socks and the short ones.

What is next?

Well I dyed these mini yarns on Sunday night. I just love them. The two colours I need to remake in a larger volume is the Dark Purple and the lime green both near the bottom. I will maybe do others. Like I group of more blues.
But I had to use some right now.

Well the next start! colour strips! in a short sock!

How fun is that?
See Why I need more Purple and Lime. I just had to use them right as quick as I could.

Multi Coloured Bits and Pieces

I have more blocks done again. Not sure how many blocks got done this week but it was a few more. If I do 2 more that might be enough, plus a boarder. Not sure yet. This layout gives you an idea of where it is going. I might also make some more of the lighter blocks. I am running out of Saturdays this month for the multi coloured scraps.

Follow the link to find the pattern for  Honey Comb

Mostly dark multi colour scraps used in this block.

There is a linky party over at Soscrappy for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017

This block has a little bit lighter multi coloured scraps. I just love some of those rainbow stripped fabrics.

This weekend I am playing agility with my dog. We have a trial both days, so out the door at 6 AM.

Scrap Saturday

My wall has the first finished slab quilt and then blocks for the next quilt. I was in need of 6 more black/ multi coloured fabrics for the slab quilt # 3 and 4. I also need some 6 more yellow but so far only 3 done. I have a goal to make 4 slab quilts. One of those quilts I think I will keep for me but the other 3 are all going to CQA and the Canada's Big Quilting Bee. I need them done by the end of May.

7 more slabs blocks. You can see I used lots of Black but wanted a slash of other colours. I also had to put one Canadian fabric in there too.

I stand on guard

April the giraffe and her baby.

Pink bug car dragons and lady bugs. There is a lot more colour then just black, but what fun.

I have added today's post to SoScrappy and the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017, this month we are to use our multi coloured prints.

Scrappy Saturday

Many blocks got done on the honey comb quit. I worked hard to sew a few more blocks. 6 more med fabric blocks and one more dark block. I think I am doing 2 of these quilts. One with the multi fabrics and one with the rainbow colours, like the red ones I showed last week.

edit: I have been asked to link to the Honey Comb Pattern, I had done it last week and forgot today.

The blocks are made up of strips 1" to 1 1/2", but most are 1 1/2". You can see there are so many different fabrics in each block. I raided all kind of scraps.

I have many boxes of scraps that have not gotten a good sorting. Boxes like this one. I took out the good colour strips years ago but left these as they did not fit in a colour. So this month we dig deep to pull them out and use them.

I have added this post to Soscrappy and the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017. She is our leader in all this colour madness.

Strips sewn together and ready to be ironed. I have Hawaii fabric, Floras left over from doing water colour quilts, stripes, kid's prints, some golden oldies from 21 years back or more.

I had to show you. I filled all the bobbins in my machine last week. I did so much sewing I emptied 8 plus the one in the machine - so 9 bobbins. That was a lot of sewing!

Multi Coloured Scraps

Multi Coloured  Scraps are the theme for this months Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017. I first thought is "that's not very rainbow" . But it is full of colour.  While I have lots of these scraps. I have been eyeing the Honey Comb pattern for some time. The link takes you to her Etsy store and you can buy the pattern too. Why not join me and make one too?

I have added today's post to Soscrappy, she hosts the RSC2017.

The blocks are sewn in rows, so for now I am just sewing the top and bottom units together. The day I do full lay out I can place the block units together again.

Here is the string of multi coloured fabrics I found. I have many dark ones and not so many light ones. I think I will do some of the light ones next. I am sure I have more to find. I have not ever kept a box of multi coloured scraps so I have to go to the unsorted bins and boxes I have. Maybe cut some larger scraps. It took my for ever to do this. I have so many dot and wild stripe fabrics, Sometimes I would say that crazy dot fabric but then see a different crazy dot fabric.

This weeks sewing altogether. Yes, still lots of Red.

3 red blocks for the honey comb quilt. Yes I did start a new quilt. Yes I am feeling a little guilty.

I also started more 6" blocks from Farm Girl Vintage. Yes that is a new start too. About 2 weeks ago I showed the strawberry blocks I did. Same book. I really wanted to do the Cherry block. Then to keep the multi coloured theme I did the Jam Jars. So cute!!!

I also finally got all my Red sampler blocks done. These are 6". I had to do a maple leave. Love it.

Both my Quilt guilds are at Retreat. Sad I am not there. I was going to try and sew all weekend, but it has not happened.
