Christmas Cookies

Well I spend a second day decorating cookies. I did not get all of them done but now I have an impressive collection to add to the plate. I just love the Santa faces done out of a cupcake cutter.

The mittens and light bulbs were some of the faster cookies to do.

There is the snowmen and a few dog faces.

More snow men and light bulbs.

I only cut out 4 of these dogs. I will have to do more of them another time. I love the black lab wrapped up in the lights. The green face is to be the Grinch.

Only one little car cut out but it is so cute. Also love the snowflakes, they are also kind of quick to do and are less sweet.

Later this week I will get back to sewing. I have some gifts to finish. I also started a Bionic Gear Bag, wow lots of videos to watch and to figure that out. I get more done and show that this week.

Rainbows Underway

I got the time to get part of this rainbow quilt up on the design wall. I might need a few more blocks but I think I have most of them done now. Bonnie Hunter gave out a challenge of rail fence this summer, so I started making these. One of her ideas was to have the Checkerboard. I know I wanted to add in the challenge of rainbow scrap blocks too. I am not going to do a real complete rainbow, no yellow, more blue.

Here is a few more blocks on the wall. I do not have all of this sewn yet. Maybe after Christmas day I can get more time in on it. I am very busy finishing up for Christmas. I have a few more gifts to sew.

This week I have also been busy cooking Christmas Cookies and Candy. How is this for Rainbow like. I am calling it Unicorn Poop Fudge. It is made with white chocolate and food colouring and then the sprinkles. It is very very sweet. I also added Raspberry flavor to it.

Today I started putting icing on the fancy cookies. Wow it is taking a long time. My hands are sore too. It has been a while since I have had icing bags in my hand for a full day. I will have to take a bunch of photos when I get more done on Sunday.

I started with the white. But soon the red and green will come out.

I have added this post to Soscrappy and the Rainbow Scrap challenge 2017. I have plans to do more for 2018.

Blue Mini Nine Patches

I got a new crop of mini nine patches done, BLUE. I need half the blocks to be a colour around and half need to be white on the out edge. I want the blues used in this quilt to be a little bit on the light or turquoise side and not too dark. These blocks finish to 3 1/2", so yes they are small.

Here is 59 blocks done. I think this is now half all of the blocks done. I think I had about 60 done before I did blue.

More little mini nine center parts.

I picked Saskatoons today and added Rhubarb to make a fruit pudding.  We are about to dig in and eat some.

Ready for Christmas

The house is feeling like Christmas. The decorations are all out and presents are getting wrapped.

I got this cute mug rugs at the Leduc Guild Christmas party earlier in December.

They are so sweet. I have a single one beside my machine. It has enough room for a drink and cookies.

I took over the kitchen with cookies. I love making these cut out cookies. I have been making them for years, maybe even 34 years or so. My great Grandmother made these ones. It is one of the good times I remember about her when I was very young. The 1st few times I made them would have been with my mom. I know around the time I was 14 or so I took over making them. I think I have made them every Christmas since.

I had oldest son to help me with them. He is done his exams and was home playing computer games. We had a great time just talking and decorating the cookies.

Merry Christmas

Lime Pie

I made this lime pie and it was just so pretty I had to take a photo. It tastes even better that it looks.

Baking I did this week

Monday was St Patrick's Day, and I did some backing for it all. I made Lime square but maybe used a bit too much green food dye. It looks odd but it was good. I used and old lemon square recipe that I love but made it lime.

I also made Irish Soda Bread biscuit style. Both are all gone but enjoyed.

Big and little dog.

Stuck in the Red Zone

I got most of the Red done in Aug but with my computer down I did not post them. Here I have the Red coin strips done. They measure about 18" long and 6 1/2" wide. Should be fun deciding how I can use them, I do not have a real plan for these yet.

Sorry for no blue yet. Maybe next week I can post more blue.

I got three 6" crumb blocks done and a start on some more.

I few more spools.

I got many triangles cut and prepared for a few different blocks but never got to sew any together.

Also a little on the Red and Blue side. I have Raspberry and Blueberry turnovers. I have made these a few times this summer. I now have a little stash of the berry filling in the freezer and can make them up all winter long.

I am not going to get much sewing done today, the weather is nice and I have to work on the fall harvest. I have tomatoes, squash, carrots and potatoes to come in.

Last Saturday for Teal

This week I worked on more teal scraps. I got 9 blocks done using 2" scraps. I love this colour.
I added this to Soscrappy's Linky Party

I also did the blue 16 patch blocks I missed in May. I had the 2" squares cut but did not find the time in May to sew them together.

Also got June's yellow 16 patches done.

I then worked on the April's Green 16 patches too.

I then worked on catching up on the coin strips too. Pink from January, Green from April and Blue from May. I think coin strips and 16 patch blocks are all caught up now.

Today I hope to work on some more teal. These bits are to be butterflies. I need to do a little more teal still. I just love this colour!

This week I got more done because I was sewing up stairs in front of the TV in the evening. I got out this old machine I bought last year. I finished cleaning and oiling. I had it just dripping in oil. It needed it. It is a 1948 gear driven singer in a cabinet. It was the first time I have sewn with it and I am very happy with it. I spent the week watching Downton Abby season 1. I love the third show. English Fox hunting and good looking men. I may have to watch that one again.

I made Coconut, Poppy seed, Lemon muffins today. I found them on Pinterest and have now made them 3 times. I added the toasted sweet coconut flacks on top.  Here  is the link. Let me know if you try them. I love them.

Scrappy Saturday Browns

I have some Brown spools to show this week. I did some at retreat while sewing other things as this is a leaders and enders project. I am trying to do this like a charm project also and not have two fabric repeat, so doing each colour by the month helps.

A few of my favorite brown fabrics. I have added this post to Soscrappy.

I also got a chunk of brown Poverty Piecing done too.

I had to made some desserts today. My husband is hosting a party for 32 people tonight. I am in change of dessert. I am making Lemon squares. I wanted to watch Bonnie's Quilt Cam too so set it up next to the mixer.

Lex joins me by sitting next to the hand towel. It is the best place not far from the heat vent and the lest likely place to be stepped on.

Lemon squares out of the oven.

Chocolate cake and chocolate mousse dessert in layers. I also made a double pan of chocolate Brownies.  So lots of Browns happening around here. Wish us Luck with the big crowd of people. I hope everyone comes.

Here is a photo out the front door. We have snow. It is melting on the roads and sidewalks, so driving is not bad.

And out the back door.

WIP Wednesday and Recap July

I am looking back at July to see what I have done. I did not finish a quilt of mine, I did help my customers by machine quilting many of their quilts. This collection of rainbow blocks is looking great. I added four blue ones this month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2012 (RSC2012). I also got half of my Spider Web Quilt pieced together and need to get the other half up on the wall and pieced together.

I got many more wacky log cabin blocks done also for the RSC2012 in blue for the month of July.

I got five more Forester`s wife blocks done that is part of a sew a long and the RSC2012.

I got this quilted in July but did not get around to doing the binding. This is very small and was quick to do but still not done. I plan to use this on my small coffee table as I need some kind of place mat.

Here is the back, it is even in rainbow thread.

I have done a ton of machine quilting. This is one that is currently on the machine and is very very large. I thought I would post a photo as the customer sometimes checks my blog and I want to give her a little peak at what I am doing on her quilt. I am so pleased with it.

The fruit around here has been crazy. Yesterday I spend the day in the kitchen trying to use some of it up. I made a Rhubarb and Raspberry Crisp.

Then I made three bashes of Raspberry Jam. I have picked at least four large pails of berries in the last few days. Glad to have the berries.

Then a double bash of Raspberry and almond muffins. I took my Blueberry muffin recipe and added two table spoons of ground almond and some almond extract. I also did six pies on Saturday but did not get any photos. I have Saskatoon berries on the trees and I not sure I will pick any as I am almost done with the kitchen.

I have added today`s posts to Freashly Pieced WIP Wednesday and Lily`s Quilts Fresh Sewing Days
