Rainbow Pinwheel Quit

One of my agility teachers has had a human baby girl. Her dogs had puppies too in 2020. It was a year of staying close to home and having babies. While I needed to make a baby quilt. Yesterday I dropped it off to her.

Close up of the quilting and binding. I did loops all over.

On the deck table in the sunshine.

As the quilt is going to agility person I had to do a photo shot out on the equipment. On the teeter just before the wind removed it.

On a tunnel, the blue and yellows look good with it.

I love this photo, on a jump. Kind of funny, as last week I was adding coats and blankets to a jump to let my dog see different jumps. Every time she came around to the jump it looked a little different.

Happy New Year!

I have been looking back at 2018 and thinking about the new year 2019.

Good Fortune is a good start to the new year!

My mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter this year is Good Fortune. I have been working on a slower pace this year and yet I am all caught up with Friday's last clue 6. I think I just have to iron and count clue 3 the little green triangles. I should have enough. You can see I have pink added in, it is my replacement to the Orange.

Clue 6 the neutral strings, done and counted.

I have linked up to Bonnie's Link up Monday

Yesterday, I was at a friends house doing a painting class. Paint your pet! So much fun. The black purple puppy I did back in May, my Gemma. Yesterday, I painted Lex, the Brown Chesapeake Bay. He is no longer with us but in memory.
I think it turned out Great. I think I showed of his personality perfectly.
My husband wants to hang up this one for sure.

Lex playing at Dock Diving.

Looking back at mine and Gemma's Agility year, I could not be happier with our team. We had a great year even with missing out the first few months to heal a toe. We took out all our title ribbons but 2 more are missing. We got some big titles this year. Hoping our 2019 can be just as much fun.

Agility Nationals

I have not been quilting much, too busy with agility. Last weekend Gemma and I were at the AAC National Agility Championships in Langley BC at Thunderbird Show Park. It was the first time I have qualified so I thought we better go.  My Husband and one son came with me.

My Son took the photos of me and also videoed 5 out of 6 runs for us too. We did well on Saturday with 201 points but on Sunday my brain did not do well. The first course of the day I walked my course incorrect once out of about 12 walks and then on the real run I forgot for .5 of a second and my Gemma took an extra jump. It kind of went down hill from there. I guess my Gamble at the end was OK. We were in the toughest group possible, some 80 plus dogs. Were a 10th of a second decides the placement and if I had been clean I might have placed 24th or so. I am not too fast but my dog can be.

We did have lots of fun. We saw lots of fast dogs and some great moves and skills they had.

Gemma is on the left and her relative, Mystic is on the right. It was the first time for both girls.

The grounds and the flowers were so pretty at Thunderbird. I love these colours.

Agility Weekend

I had a big weekend of agility. My black lab and I competed in the Alberta/NWT Regional Dog Agility Championships. Well we had a great weekend. She was so good and we both did so well. I was blown away as to how good. We got a 2nd place and a 10th in classes of 56 dogs. We had some great rounds. We got to a steeplechase final which is a speed class. I never thought we could do so well.

We also qualified to go to National Championships! I have booked to go now.

Sorry no quilting, next time I promise.

Mini Felted Dog

A good start to my mini Gemma, still need eyes and a nose, maybe a toy in her month.

On Saturday I spend the day making a little black Lab and pricked my fingers a few times. I got invited to a dog friend's house to make little felted animals. We made them by needle felting so I pricked my fingers a few times. Most of us worked on making our dogs. Many of the people were agility friends so we are mostly dog people.

Next to me was a Grey Cat that got worked on. His ears were frozen so in real life he had small ears.

I almost forgot the 2 ferret that were make.

Some details being added to the face.

One of the real dogs!

This was my Gemma, I used this photo and a few other to work on her shape.

We had a very good day. Thank You Kathy for the fun and good food.

Easter Bowl

I got my first fabric bowl done. I had been resisting doing a fabric bowl. I had been giving one so I did not think I needed more. Well early this month I was asked to join some Agility Dog friends on a Saturday sewing day. They were going to make bowls.  We did lots of talking about our dogs.

I had to finish mine at home a little later but I am so pleased with how it has turned out. I love the colours.

I have added today's post to Crazy Mom Quilts and Finish Up Friday

Here we are at Kathy's all showing off the fabrics we are going to use. Note the yellow Dog Daisy May in the bottom corner. Yes dog hair on fabric goes well together. We also had a great lunch with home made bread and soup.

The start of mine. I realized I should have been sewing the other direction with the circle on the outside. I had to change that.

My Fabric strips and the cord with fabric wrapped on it. Note the black and red bowl. That is the one I was given a few years ago. I made mine new one kind of the same but a bit bigger.

One of the bowls coming along nicely.

And another one with a great start to it too. She has sparkly fabric. We all wanted some of it.

Happy Easter weekend.
Gemma and I get to play at agility on Saturday, we have a trial all day.

Dog Collars and Leashes

So I am a little crazy and have started working on something new. Leather works. I have always thought it would be fun to make and sew leather, but the sewing leather part needs a new sewing machine. A very big investment. So I have been looking into smaller projects. I have a black leash that has no sewing but some kind of twisted knots. I wanted to make one or two!

I have been playing with my leather bits and parts. Staining and punching holes in my leather.

This collar is for Gemma. I have her name stamped on it and my # in case she got lost. It is a little heavy so I am not sure I will make her wear it every day. Maybe for a special show. I took 5 photos of Gemma wearing it but they are crappy. One photos did not even show the collar at all.

This pretty set, collar and leash, I have given away. It is being used as for a fund raising for one of my agility teachers, a member of the Canadian AAC agility team going to IFCS later this year. I think I will be making a second set for myself.

Dog Christmas Party

Last night was the Shape Up Christmas Party. Shape Up is the group of teachers mostly Justine Davenport and Jessica Patterson, I play agility with. It is a great group of people. I love every one of the lessons I take from the girls. Also I have so much fun with the students too. Can you tell I love this silly dog agility thing?

I needed a gift for the Christmas party. I made another Pot Warmer. This time in green and black.

I few people wanted my gift. They did some of those games were you can seal a gift up to 3 times.

I also included a few dog ginger bread in my package. Yes, in all my baking I have made cookies for the dogs. They are made with human food so we can eat then too. They are OK but not too sweet.

Gemma resting her head on my husband's feet. She loves the foot stool but has now taken to stealing his chair every chance she can.

I have also been working on the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. I am a few steps behind but hope to get more done this week. I have not taken new photos of what I do have done yet.

Pot Warmer

I was asked to make a pot warmer to give away for a fundraiser. I had make a carrot casa-roll in my big Red pot and taken it in my warmer ( it just keeps the food warm). It was a dog agility party at the end of the summer. One of the dog club members asked if she bought the pot, would I make the quilted cover.  Together we donated a really great prize to the Christmas Raffle for the Dogs at Large agility club.

Well I went with the Red, Black and White prints. I am very pleased with how it all came out.

I found little brass rings. Well I kind of recycled the brass rings. There are no more brass ones left. I had to dig out a couple of fancy gold and black buttons to trim it with.

Another photo of the pot in the cover. I just realized I did not take a photo of the pot. It was a nice big cast iron and ceramic heavy one.

As this was for the dog club I have to show you a photo of Gemma. She got a new tug toy the other day. It is not easy taking a photo of her tugging and hanging on to the tug at the same time.

Christmas Dog Exchnge

I signed up for dog agility Christmas gift exchange way back in Sept of this year. I got my victim preference page in early Oct. So I had close to 2
months to shop or make something for her and her dog. This is what I sent her, She just got her package on Monday.

I ordered a custom leash with her dogs name on it. It came from 4 My Merles. I had a little help picking out the fuzzy one. It is a leash but some dogs will also tug a bit with a leash like this.

The best custom gift was this little wall hanging. It is a 12 by 12 canvas photo of her dog and then I finished it like a quilt and put a hanging sleeve on the back. I also got a dog tag with this photo on it too. So she can carry Moses with her.

This is the original photo of Moses I used. I took it off her Facebook page. Then I used Dream Scope App to make the photo more artsy. I think it was Clashing setting that I used.

Here is the image the app made. I then uploaded this image to the Art Cow and ordered the 12 by 12 un-mounted canvas. The framed one would be nice but I did not want to pay for too much shipping. I still needed to ship it to my victim.

I used this photo that Bev took this Sept for me.

And I got a canvas of Gemma like this. I am not so sure of this one. It looks good far away. I have thought I could add it in to a wall quilt and add the works. Run like no one is watching. She is so silly. I will have to show you what I got from my other partner, another day.
