Framed Art Quilts

I am getting ready to take a few arm loads of quilts to the Edmonton and District Quilter's Guild Quilt show. This year they are hosting a Members Market for finished quilts. I am going to take many of my quilts and offer them for sale.

I have also been updating my page Art Quilts For Sale about Art quilts I have for sale. I also have the Quilts For Sale where I keep the more traditional bed and lap quilts.

New Design Wall Monday

Design Wall Monday is going to keep going! It has a new home over at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts.

I have put up my blocks from the Pizza Box Exchange up on the wall. 18 great looking blocks. I might add 2 more so I have 20 blocks, then I can do 4 by 5 blocks. Or maybe I need to think about on point blocks. Not sure yet.

Pin wheel block. I did leave the tags on them so far. I want to go read up who did which block and maybe why or where the pattern is from. We sent a little book to record that information in.

I love this block. A Log cabin type block.

Dresden plate

In other news. I got a happy email. I won a prize for a link up with Sew Fresh Quilts. She had a linky party for the Canada's Big Quilt Bee. I have 2 quilts so far for the Charity drive. She informed me that I won a Layer Cake of fabric which she donated.  It is a pretty bundle of Robert Kaufman fabric. I can not wait for the fabric to arrive now.

Green Saturday Scraps

So pleased that I got 3 green honey comb blocks done. It took most of the month to go through the green scraps bin and trim off 2 - 1 1/2" by 5" strips off. Then I sorted them by the three families, lime, olive and then the emerald.

Follow the link to find the pattern for  Honey Comb. quilt pattern.

I am so happy with this Emerald block. Wow, it glows and sparkles like a real Gem.

I also added to the Mini Nines. I worked at getting more blocks with Green in them. I needed to use a bit of other colour to use with some of the green parts. These blocks are only 4" so the little bits are 1/2" squares.

Here is the wall this weekend. I have 2 more green blocks I want to finish, they are cut and ready just need time to sew. I will try to get them done and show then next weekend with our new colour in June.

Slab Quilt #2

Canadian Slab Quilt # 2 totally done. I just got the binding done after lunch and then rushed outside to get some photos. These quilts are going towards the Canada's Big Quilt Bee hosted by CQA. The blocks were to be slab blocks like Cheryl Arkison block in Sunday Morning Quilts but 12 1/2" and they were to have at least one Canadian fabric in it.

Here are the 2 finished ones together so you know I did really do 2. They are kind of a like but as they are scraps they are not really the same.

I did the binding with different fabrics. I think I like the red one the best. I use stripped fabric for many of my bindings so I am surprised I like the red that much.

Another close up.

I also took some shots in the lawn. I think all the yellow dandelions are so cute around my quilt. My husband hates dandelions and any minute they are going to be mowed. Really, he just walked out the door saying he is off to mow. He hates to see a field of yellow.
Mowers running now!

I have added this post to Crazy Mom Quilts, and Confessions of a Fabric Addict with Can I get Whoop Whoop. I will also plan to add this post to Soscrappy's Saturday linky party as I did do many blocks with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017

Green Scraps

I got to play outside with my dog on the green grass today. We had an agility workshop to prepare for the up coming regional agility Championships. I really hope to do well this year, not placement so much as just have some person good runs.

Now on to the green scraps I played with this week. I really just got a bit done. I started making mini nine patches. I saw these on Crazy Mom Quilts. She has this pattern in her no book, no scrap left behind.

This is a few of them made and cut units. They are small. The inside green square finishes to 1/2" so the mini nine finishes to 1 1/2". tiny. maybe crazy.

Spring Tulips Finished

Spring is in the air! I have my tulip quilt finished and ready to go in the local quilt show next month. We finally have green grass and a little less mud. I think this has been one of the muddiest springs we have had. I have had tulips in my garden but the gophers have gotten to them and most are gone now. The quilt will have to do.

This quilt pattern is from the book Quilty Fun. I still have many more tulip blocks I can use in another quilt. I made many of the tulip blocks as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge over the past few years.

I have added this post to Finish Up Friday at Crazy Mom Quilts

Another photos on a fence rail, this time with the wind behind the quilt. Also behind the quilt is my black lab and the 5 horses in the distance.

I did some fussy machine quilting on the tulip block. Lot of little spirals and some ditch work and then some flowing lines to follow the leaves and tulip petals. It did mean I changed the thread some 30 times or more.

My backing and binding show off here. I had some lighter coloured fabrics that I thought looked good with the front of the quilt.

The wind was a problem for photos today. I took lots and most look like this photo, flapping so badly you can not see the quilt. Yet somehow I like a few of these photos. It makes the quilt come alive.

The quilt show I plan to put this quilt in is the Edmonton and Districts Quilt Guild show.  The Quilt show is June 3rd and 4th at the Central Lions Seniors Centre at 11113-113 Street NW Edmonton. The times are June 3 Saturday 10 am till 5 pm and June 4th Sunday 10 am till 4 pm.

I am slowly making some progress on the little cherry quilt. The little blocks get the triangles added in the corner and then I can work on the sashing between the blocks. I plan to use this as a table runner.

Cherry Blocks

I love the little 6 inch cherry blocks. The pattern is from Farm girl Vintage book. I worked on the blocks this past week.

I was planning on posting to the Design Wall Monday, but it is no more. Kind of sad but she is not quilting much anymore. I find Monday is a good day to show off some quilting I have done on the weekend.

Now I am getting to the sashing and planning that is needed to finish the little quilt top. I am planning a square table runner. Not sure if I am going to want to use for everyday table, I might get bad stains on it.

I have loved the Red and Turquoise together. I found fabric with mini cherries on Turquoise.

I also got a photo of my little tea pot.

Green Dyed Strings

Green is the colour for May! We are getting green grass and the leaves are thinking of opening up. All the sades of green are out.

So for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017 Green is it!

I worked on my Hand dyed string and made some half squares of Green. Love them.

I have added my green scrap blocks to Soscrappy.

Monday Design Wall

I have enough blocks to still do 2 more slab quilts. Here is the 3rd quilt. I hope to get the top together in a day or 2. I am working on Charity quilts for the CQA Canada's Big Quilt Bee. They asked us to make slab blocks, quilt tops or finished quilts. Then the finished quilts will be given to Ronald McDonald House for sick kids. The quilts are due by the end of the month, so I have lots left to do.

I have added this to Design Wall Monday

Glorious Hexagons

I keep a few hand stitching projects on the go. I started doing some Hexagons from The New Hexagon book back in Nov 2015, after hearing Katja speak. I did lots last winter and not so many this year. But I keep working on a few. Here is the latest set of Hexagons.

Block #25 Marjorie, one of my favorite blocks to do. With the 6 repeats, they spin.

This block is #11 Susan. I love these ones, also with the 6 repeats.

#7 Maureen. The more solid blue is one of my hand dyed fabrics. All the other fabrics are from the Kaffe Fassett Collection.

# 8 Marena. The pencil fabric is fun for this block.

Block #1 Marie, I love to fussy cut the flowers for this block.

#23 Dawn, love to fuzzy cut the flowers in the center.

I have added today's post to Kathy's Quilts and Slow Sunday Stitching.

Green Apples

Today is the first Saturday in May and the first day of the Green Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017. I had the green apple on y list of green to work on, Last March I did  crate load of red apples. I also did a few of the other colours because I had them cut already. So I added in a few ink and yellow apples. I got more apple done then I thought I would. I worked on them and watched the Oilers hockey game, there was double over time so I kept sewing. They lost the game.

I just love the apple core blocks, especially these two, this kind of wild fabric makes them so much fun. Then all the dots I have. Looks like a will make a small apple quilt and then also use some blocks in another quilt too.

I have added today's post to Soscrappy.

Good News I got to ride my horse today. He was very sore last fall a couple of different things went wrong with him. He is all healed up and can be ridden again. The whole family went plus the neighbours dog. The neighbour has a new dog and she thinks we are more fun to hang out with. She might have to get tied up, I guess she was going to follow them down the long drive way yesterday too.

Pizza Box Blocks

We have been getting close to being done the Pizza Box Block Exchange at the Black Gold Quilt Patch Guild. I did 2 blocks for one lady that wanted dutch themed blocks. While tulips is all I could think about. I found this nice block it was called Dutch Treat

The yellow flower fabric was in her box and so was the background green. I think so was the lighter orange, I added just the dark orange which is a hand dyed fabric. I am very happy with the colour blending of this block.

I loved this block enough that I did the second block with the same pattern. The darker pink was in her box and I added the light pink dot and the orange dot fabric.

The next box I did had this Christmas paper piecing pattern. I wanted to use my cutie fabrics. I love how they came out.
