Scrap Saturday Last of the Orange
The last Scrap Saturday to show off our Orange scrap blocks. I saw some Halloween project in the works and got dreaming of pumpkins. Better then dreaming of food - started a diet and was dreaming of white bread and butter the night before. Besides all the orange scraps, it is making a bigger dent in the purple scrap box.
I got started on the pumpkins today and got two blocks complete and a start on three more. Not sure what they will become. Maybe a wall quilt or runner. At this stage they are about 10" square. The orange strip set in the middle started as a 6 1/2" square.
I also got working on something new. I see others making blocks of 4 patches or 16 patches and I thought I would make some 16 patches but I have added in one little twist. Each block has one square that is a contracting colour. In the case of Orange it got a blue or purple square. These are made up of 2" squares and now measure 6 1/2" square. We will see how I use these.
Go to Soscrappy to see more about Scarppy Saturday and all the other Orange happening. I wounder what colour we will get next month. I could do Black or black and other colours mixed in. Brown could happen too. Three month left and all my favorite colours have been used up.
I also needed some Orange wonky log cabins. One full orange and two that had a dark purple side too. You just wait till the end of the year and I have to put the log cabins together.
Here are new Orange spools that I worked on today as Leaders and Enders. I also have a stack from early in the month.
I have signed up for Blogoberfest 2012. I have added the button to the right side. I am to blog every day in the month of October, and share my creative sprite I think I will host a give a way. I will have to think about what I will give away. Maybe some dyed fabric.

Friday Finish
I got it totally finished last night. It has been dragged around waiting for me to finish the binding. In just over an hour I got the hand stitched binding done.
Not sure it has a top or bottom. Both ways look great.
The back with the bubble quilting. Someday I should do a large project all over it.
I am using it as a little placement next to my chair on the oak side table.
I have added this post to Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday, and Friday-Favs-Party 82, and TGIFF.

Fall and a Quilt
I got this quilt done for my customer and she came to get it late yesterday. She calls it her "fun quilt". I forgot to get a photo of the backing but it was red with large numbers. She had me quilt it will an all over squares pattern that I do with Red thread on the top and bottom. It really did made it fun. The pattern of the patch work is Turning 20.
A detail shot. Great fun. Best of all she was very pleased with it. Now she has to finish her binding.
The sun was out today and the leaves are at their best colour so I have some fall photos today to share with you. Honey the horse.
This is my driveway. If you had a bad day, there is nothing better to drive home through the trees and almost there. Open the window and small the leaves for the best aromatherapy. No internet smell-a-vision, sorry.

WIP Wednesday
WIP Wednesday has my Grandmother's Choice block for this week, the Sunflower. I did not know what I should do to make this 8 inch block at first. I desisted on English Paper Piecing. So it is all hand pieced. I now need to pick a background fabric. A friend Liz is sending me some fabric with my mom tonight that looked like it may work great. I did most of the piecing yesterday at my Bee group stitch day. Liz gave me a kids quilt to quilt and one of the fabrics is the perfect blue. She thinks she has some left and will see my mom tonight. Then I can pick the fabric.
I have added this post to Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday
This is one choice I have. The large blue dot print. It maybe to strong for the block.
I am having computer trouble. My lap top is dead and my great Geek of a brother found me a nice recycled one but it does not have the programs I know. I can not edit my photos the way I like too. Maybe tonight my husband can give me some new programs so I can edit photos and make the post I want. Good thing my men know how to fix these computers.
Maybe tomorrow I can show the other choices, if I can fix up the computer for easier use.
I have also lost all my contact list for my emails, so if you think I have your email, well now I do not. Send me an email and I can add you to my new computer. Thanks.

Design Wall Monday Sept 24
Today on my design wall I have got the fixed results of The Ugliest Quilt I have ever made. Back in June I showed you some blocks on my wall that I had sewn together some 10 years or more ago. Then they were put in a box. I got them out thinking This Year I Must Do Something with them. Well I know why they were in the box. It was Ugly. So with my mom' help we have saved it a little.
We found this pale green floral print on sale for $5.00/m Canadian and knew it would help. We used 6 1/2" square of it between the 16 and 4 patches. It did help some. The bad part is, this is only one out of three. We have enough to make three quilt tops like this one. We have other prints to go between the patches. We are thinking the quilts will go to charity projects our two quilt guilds do.
I have added today's post to Patchwork Times Design Wall Monday, and Manic Monday at Sew Happy Geek.
I have been dying thread again to sell. I have my thread stands refreshed again. A friend (and her friends) are starting some hand projects and need more of my thread. It is great for hand quilting or hand button hole stitch. I have used it in the bobbin of my machine for machine quilting too.
Today I am starting to quilt this quilt for a friend and customer. I am doing squares in Red thread. Should be fun. I thought with the ugly quilt I needed to show something pretty today and this is much better to look at.

Lex Did Well
Update on our Dog trial in Agility today. Lex and I had four runs in total. We passed or Qualified in the first two, Advanced Gamblers and Advanced Snooker. Both are a part of the games of agility. Then we were in a Challenge and it is for Master level dogs only so our run we were For Exhibition Only. We had trouble in one area and did three jumps badly but the rest was super good even some of the other hard parts. Then our last run was an Advanced Standard and we had some trouble at the table. The rest of the run was very good also. Sorry I forget to take photos. I have at least one video of us but have not down loaded then up loaded it to my YouTube site. So happy with my dog.
This is were he will be spending his evening resting.

Scrap Saturday
I got in my sewing on Friday night after a very busy week. This is a second orange block for my rainbow quilt. I have something like 21 blocks done so far. I love the poke-a-dot fabric that has the yellow background but is strong enough to be in my oranges. Over at Soscrappy you can check out what the others are doing with orange or pumpkin. You can also go see what others were sewing on Friday Night Sew In.
I got some poverty piecing done. Not sure what to do with some of these pieces.
I thought I would show off my sewing machine that I used last night. My uncle David found a featherweight for me a few years back. My table is a bright pumpkin colour too. Do you see my sweet peas. They were so sweet smelling. Better then the smell coming from my husband last night. Sorry Honey. And thank you for the Birthday Cheese cake.
So far a very productive month of pumpkin. More Hexies got done over the week too. I have 16 orange flowers now. I am wondering if a should applique them to some pants. I have a dog agility trial on Oct 6th and the theme is crazy pants. Mine might be too nice to be called crazy.
Today Mr Lex (the Dog) and I are at a dog agility trial early. I will let you know how it goes.

Friday Night Sewing
I had a great Birthday. I got good mail today. I ordered a few books and they came in today. Also in the photo is a few pieces of fabric I bought when I had to take my machine in.
I got this book from my sons last night. It is a new book just out. Hope to get a better look at it tonight.
Tonight is Friday Night Sew In at Handmade by Heidi. Saturday we are to post what we worked on. It is like a big on line sewing bee. I have plans to work on my orange scraps from the Rainbow scrap challenge.
I have picked some sweet peas from my garden to put beside me tonight as I sew. They smell so good. They maybe the last of my garden flowers as each night keeps giving us frost.

Happy Birthday to Me
It is my birthday today. I am not over the hill yet. I did not sew anything today. Way too busy. I golfed, and had a good dinner. Then off to agility class with Mr Lex the dog.
I am having bad computer trouble so no photos today. I hope to be back to normally computer working order soon. I can not replay to all your great comments now.
Thanks everyone.

World Wall Quilt
I was asked to machine quilt this lovely little wall quilt for Karin. She is donating it to an auction to raise money for an elevator. Many of our public spaces in Canada are forced to be wheel chair accessible and it is going to cost a lot of money. This is for a ministry school.
Can you see the cross?
Off to quilt a baby quilt today. Tonight we are going out for Fancy Dinner to celebrate our Anniversary.

Design Wall Monday Sept 17th
On the second wall is my Roll Roll Cotton Ball. This wall is much too small to hold much more than this. I think with the addition of the 10 string blocks I might soon be able to sew the main body of this quilt together. I may take this to retreat in mid October. I have tons to do on the boarder as the units are not together yet.
If you want to see more about Design Wall Monday, go see yourself. I have added this post to Manic Monday at Sew Happy Geek.
I am quilting this sweet wall quilt today. I should have no trouble finishing after lunch and then getting it back to her on my way to Agility class on Tue.
I have a super busy week. Dog class twice, Birthday, Wedding Anniversary, Golf tournament, Dog agility trial on Saturday, family photos Sunday. And I am to get a hair cut but do not have a hair dresser. Not sure how much time I will get to sew for myself.

Grandmother Choice Blocks 2 and 3
I have a nice start to my Grandmother`s Choice block of the week. You can find the posts Here. This is #2 Amethyst and was out last Sunday. I had trouble with my computers and printer so could not get it printed. Then I ended up drafting it myself. Worked out great.
Then block #3 Union Square was posted on Saturday. Maybe they will all be on Saturday as many of us sew on the weekend. I got it done and measured it. It was too big. I sewed a seam allowance to two deeper, and it is still to big. I cut all my Red and White square 2 1/2" not the 2 3/8". I am thinking I may redo this block over. I like the fabrics I used but it is still a large 1/4" larger. Just not happy with it.
Here is all three together. You can see I am using lots of the yellow.

Scrap Saturday Pumpkin
I have a little more to show for Scrap Saturday. I have been working on the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2012 all year. Hard to believe we are in the home stretch for the year, three and a half months left. I am going to do more next year too. I just love working on different blocks each month. I still need one more of these 12 inch blocks in orange before the month is up.
Here are 9 orange hexagon flowers done so far. I only started to make these last month in the turquoise. I guess you could say I have more work to do on these. I am thinking I will appliqué these to a base but I am not sure what or how I will use them.
The spools are part of the Leaders and Ends Challenge that Bonnie Hunter put out around Aug 20th last month. I love these little 3 inch spools. I did get a few more done this week.
All my orange so far this month. I have added this post to Soscrappy linky party, go see the other orange going on this month.
I picked these last night just before supper. Good thing we got frost last night. I was not excepting frost and did not pick or cover my tomatoes next to the house, we will see if I will get damage or not. Do you see the big kid on the lawn tractor in the far background. Crazy grass keeps growing, maybe the frost will slow it down.

Friday Finished It
I got the quilt top done for my Spider Web Quilt. I love it. So glad to see it as a quilt top, one goal done for September. I have to make a backing and get it quilted but that may not happen soon. I may quilt it over the Christmas holidays. I got the best photo on my old jump set high. There was more wind then I thought today. To see more about what I did on this quilt check The Link. This quilt top measures 108" by 96" and the quilt is planned for our bed.
This was the best I got on the old hay rack.
Then the next shot this happened. The wind blew it right off and on to the ground. OK guess I am done with hay rack shots in today's wind.
I also got this journal cover done. It uses a piece of the Poverty Piecing I had made last month.
Here is the inside. I have a zippier and pocket so I can put pens or what ever in the pocket.
I have some fabric swatches for my Grandmother's choice block of the week. I am using this book for near the computer and writing things down. My Grandmother always had a little book to write base ball scores and stats down and now my mom and I have a little book. I must be getting old.
Today the Creative Stitches Show was happening. I did a little shopping. I found more of the bright green I was looking for to use in my Grandmother's choice. More orange too. The Indigo Blue is a linen and cotton fabric that I bought. I was thinking of giving it to someone but I may have trouble parting with it. I got a book on Featherweight machines. I have one and want to know more about them. The ribbon or twill tape is a measure tape twill. It looked like I needed some. Not sure what I will use it for.
I have added this post to Can I Get A Whoop Whoop, and Falicity Quilts Friday Felicities and Nap Time Crafter's Friday Fav's Party #80. And Linky Party Tuesday

Quilt Till You Wilt
The Black Gold Quilt Guild had a great sewing day last Saturday. I have been so wildly busy and then was without internet for a few days, so it was hard to find the time to show you what we did.
What do we do, we get together to sew on anything you wanted to work on. We have a brown bag lunch and a pot luck supper. I made a cucumber salad, hoping to use up some cucumbers. My mom made a poppy seed cake. We have no plan for our pot luck and there is this little worry that everyone will bring desert but it never happens.
We had door prizes. I won the magazine and a new fancy set of tweezers.
There was one nice old machine working hard.
The old machine worked on this quilt for the day. Near dinner time it came close to being done. I think this was a quilt pattern from a resent scrap magazine, not sure of the name.
There was some machine quilting going on. A small quilt for a little girl.
Some art thread work was going on in the back corner.
