Star Struck Finished

I got it finished, and it was under one year. I started this quilt last November and had the top together by New Years Eve. Then it sat for 6 1/2 months waiting to be quilted. I needed time to think about the quilting I wanted to do on it. I am very happy with it.

In honour of Spruce Meadows Master's this week, I thought I would get a photo of my quilt on an old jump set high. In case you do not know Spruce Meadows is in Calgary and hosts some of the world's best Show Jumping. I was a competitor at the Spruce Meadows for 8 years, many many years ago. My name then was Cathy Manuel and my horses were Going Easy and then Esplanade. I miss going but have not returned to be a spectator, as I miss competing so much. Maybe next summer I will plan to attend the dog Agility trial that is held on their ground. I know many things will have changed.

The close up of the quilting. You can find the pattern for this quilt at Quiltville, Bonnie Hunter's web site. She has many free patterns to pick from.

The back in Lime green.

Here is the quilt on the fence leading to the horses. They are the little dark dots way in the back.

On the rock next to the old wagon wheel.

Another fence leading to the riding ring we recently built in the yard.

On the old hay rack blowing in the wind. Now to clean the grass and cob webs off my quilt.

I have added this post to Friday Fav at Nap Time Crafter's and The Magic Onion's Friday Natural's Table and Find a Friend Friday at Sew Many Ways .

I have a Quilt Till You Wilt Day on Saturday at the New Serpta Ag Centre, hosted by the Leduc Guild. I have to pack my UFO's up and see if I can make some process on them.

  5. I've been wanting to go to Black Gold Guild meetings since I first heard about them at last year's show at the high school. They generally meet once a month, right? If I could ever remember AND coordinate a babysitter at the same time, I'd be a happy girl. I'm sorry I missed your scrap chat.

  6. Gorgeous Cathy- just gorgeous-I love the colors and the wagon Wheel. My grandparents had a wagon wheel at their farm gate all the years I can remember. It makes me feel a bit melancholy just looking at them but not in a bad way. The fence is a beautiful backdrop for the quilt- lovely quilting too.. You are one talented lady- I know a few people who love the Spruce Meadows event. It sounds like show jumping was another great passion in your life.
Enjoy your quilt til you drop Saturday. I hope to do something similar at home- just have to finish my lesson plans tonight. I have three quilts that need to be trimmed and bound before the third week of September so I am a girl on a mission.
    Happy creating,
    Anna
