Scrappy Saturday Yellow

It is a Scappy Saturday and the month of May is Yellow. I did not get any done the first week but today I have a good start. I have added today's post to SoScrappy linky page. I have been a good girl and done many of these Saturdays for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2012.

Here is my box of well sorted out yellow straps. I have trouble deciding if some are yellow, brown or orange. I think sometimes to get the contrast we need for patch work we need to add a little of the other colours in.

I have a stack of 12 string blocks done. I have started a new quilt again. Last month was neutral scraps so I am a little late but I am sure you will forgive me. I did do a whole quilt top last month.

I have done the string block on old phone book paper, like Bonnie Hunter does.

I need to trim and cut my blocks like the above photo. I am wondering if some of you can guess what quilt I have started. I will give you a clue - there were many of these quilts on the go last winter.

Going to mom's now.

  1. Looks like you've had a productive week! Your yellow scrappies are very striking. I agree with what you said about contrast. I deliberately left out the brown to gold shades of yellow, but they definitely help make the blocks more interesting. Not sure what you're string-pieced blocks will be, but I like the way they look!

  2. okay, I give up...what quilt are these string blocks for? Love the variety you used in the yellow blocks. Those are great and I agree, we thrive on variety.

  3. You do have a very good selection of yellow scraps!

Would that be Roll Roll Cotton Boll?

  4. how far behind am I? That is a very attractive quilt. I have seen a lot of those Roll Roll Cotton Boll's in various postings.

  5. I didn't see your link on the yellow scrappy list yesterday when I checked?
Love your yellow blocks! I especially love your dotty fabrics!

  6. I so agree with you about the contrast of a few other colors. It is nice to stretch the color ranges and get a nice variety. My first guess for the strings would have to be Roll Roll Cotton Boll. I have some neutral strings in the works for Jamestown Landing. Neutral strings are such a nice addition to the "background" of quilts.

  7. Your tiny pinwheel is amazing!
